I have always had a nice expireene with UAL, but on my ORD-SFO-ORD trip, CS has been horrible. I have missed one flight that went out with 2 open seats when I was next on STBY and the gate agent told me I didn't know what I was talking about and needed to talk to someone else, stating that he flight was full. Only after I showed him the dispatch sheet showing the flight left with 2 open seats and more rudeness did he finally apologize. Just now I miss a flight with 130 open seats because the GA refused to check me in, after I was sent over by the gte of the flight I was trying to make; as it was oversold. So she tells me I'm not on her list, I tell her I know, I was just added, and that I have a conf. Number with me. She refuses to help.

So now I sit and wait, I guess I can't complain because I'm on a buddy pass, but still.

I mean, if their aren't any other passengers needing assistance, are you telling me you are too busy to help a PAX? She also told a guy flying for the first time to go look at the moniters, it's not her job to tell him where his gate is. Turns out his BP doesn't have a gate number, but I recognize the flight because it's the one I just left. I tell him where to go, and he is wry appreciatie.

I dunno, maybe I've been here too long with not enough sleep.


Is been bumped off more flights than a GoJet pilot.

I don't like the part about it not being her job to tell him where the gate is, but a lot of times the gate agents have no clue where a flight is boarding. In a place like San Fran or O'Hare, there are hundreds of flights. Nobody's going to be able to keep up with that.
 
At 12 pm I would agree, but at 6 am, when no ones around, c'mon...

I'm just happy I get to go out now. It's weird though, ChasenSFO is a gate agent and so is the gay guy there that wants me (haha Chasen) and they still manage to help out a customer, even when they're busy. For instance, Chasen stayed late to try to get me out to ORD, another 2 hours. We were at one of SKW's podiums relisting me when a pax asked Chasen a question about a UAL flight. He wasn't working but still helped the PAX, even though it isn't his "job."
 
1st question, where did you get the dispatch release? Second the minute your started telling the GA how to do their job any credibility you may have had would have started to dwindle....

Uh...angel? Huh? That confused me.

"I fly aircraft! I'm used to seeing my surroundings - this is awkward!"

A man yelled, "She's a pilot!"...in an attempt to pursuade someone to work with me.

I ended up trading seats with the lady, all the while being glared at by at least 25% of the passengers.

And I flew the 757-200 sim at NATCO DANGIT...ON ONE ENGINE OUT OF EAGLE COLORADO AND THEN CIRCUMNAVIGATED A THUNDERSTORM!!! And what do these PAX do?! Glare at me. :mad: Sorry, had to say that. I'm sure some of you can sympathize with my mentality at that point.

I felt disrespected by the flight attendant, and as if some of the PAX thought me to be a danger to the flight. Every time I talked to my neighbor, the lady next to him would lean forward and GLARE at me like I was something on the bottom of her shoe. The conversation was about aviation education and outreach..if that matters???

I wanted to tell the NWA Flight Attendant that I felt hurt and disrespected by her attitude toward me. I felt as though I had been judged, and I feel that she did not represent Northwest Airlines very well at all. I should have, especially as a fellow woman in aviation.

*sigh*

I'm guessing I'm not the only one who has been through this. I'm wondering if 737 captains not in uniform have gotten the same treatment. I feel like such a friend to aviation and then to have people already in the industry treat me like that...REALLY HURTS.

DPApilot... welcome to the world of non rev. Some days people will go out of the way to help you. My mom flew over to France a few months ago and managed to get 1st class on the domestic leg because she sat next to the gate agent on the bus to the airport and had a nice talk about knitting and then not only Envoy on international but one of only 4 LayFlat seats on the 330 because she picked up an ID badge that an agent dropped. And then there are the non rev experiences like you're having now where everything seems to go wrong. In the end the important thing is that you got there. Just remember that present service is no predictor of future service so make damn sure you don't come in with a chip on your shoulder the next time you non rev.

I don't know, pass travel for employees and guests is a benefit of employment. If someone in HR gave you a hard time about using your employer provided health insurance would you shrug your shoulders?

True, BUT......You complain about/to your doctor, nothing will happen to your health insurance.

You start complaining about or questioning the pass benefits of your Friend, and he or she can easily lose those benefits. That would be the difference.

Oh definetly. Whoever issued the guest pass should find out why his guest was left in an airport when there were 130 open seats on a flight.

Nah, the only reason i said anything was because my friend the Gate Agent asked me if i had a seat and i said nope, it was full. I was fine with it. I do have to say the UAL GA was a bit rude earlier when i asked how the loads looked and his reply was, I dont have a seat for you, so just sit down." i was like um, ok, i was just wondering if it was grossly overbooked, sorry... So when my GA friend texts back, he said "why not? the a/c went out with 2 seats, you were number 2 on the stand-by list. When i asked the gate agent, he said that i didnt know what i was talking about and he's too busy to talk. I brought the little sheet to him and he tried B/S ing for a bit, i just left. Later he came to my friends gate and apoligized and said he knew he messed up, and tried to look up some flights for me, no joy.

I am very used to non-revving, my mom was a ATA f/.a so i went non rev everywhere. I had been bumped off 5 flights to SFO and 7 already yesterday when it happened. If i get bumped, i dont care, im just happy for the chance to go somewhere for a reduced fare. But i do get a bit irritated when a flight goes out with open seats that did not have a purpose (eg, weight restriction, crew rest, broken)

Again, im just happy for a chance to hop on a ride home.

Also, UA has some of the best C/S and i can't complain about inflight. I was just pointing out some stuff i've noticed at SFO, pretty much isolated for me.

That was before my time here and all I can say is "Wow!"

On this thread topic, what most people don't seem to grasp is that a ticket is a contract to get you from point A to point B. But the small print says the airline specifically reserves the right to change the time, date, routing, equipment, thus seating, and everything else. Being a non-rev entitles you to even less than what the revenue pax gets.
 
YES, an airline most certainly can, will, and have MANY times in the past revoked an employees travel privileges for the behavior of a non-rev pax riding on their passes. Buddy pass behavior was SO atrocious at AA, it caused ALL employees to lose the ability to write a buddy pass for the first 2 years of employment!

Buddy pass writing and non-rev privileges are a benefit of employment, not a right or even something in a union contract. If they are abused, they WILL be taken away. It is clearly spelled out in the employee handbook how the pass system works, and the consequences of abuse (like selling your buddy passes) or bad behavior (on the part of the employee or buddy pass riders).
 
That is why I tell my parents, if something happens all I want you to say, when is the next flight and can you roll me over to the next stand by list!

At Delta, not only can they revoke the employee's travel benefits, they reserve the right to discipline the employee up to and including termination for the behaviour of that employee's pass riders. I don't give my passes to anybody, usually just let them expire unused.

I can't stand seeing non revvers dress poorly, in flip flops, t shirts, exct, and crowd the gate. I tend to sit down and wait to be called. If not, theirs always another flight.

besides, people watching is fun!
