Food here is expensive, except for your Grand-Forks-cuisine boxed carbohydrates such as Mac N Cheese (YUM!)...but anything fresh like meat or produce you will pay an arm and a leg. And it won't even be fresh! $.99 for a friggin' orange? (this is even before the orange freeze crisis)...outrageous!

When I told my mom prime rib was $17.99 a lb she about flipped out... anywhere else it's around $12/lb.

A buddy of mine has a neighbor that does a lot of the fancy lighting that you see in Outback Restaruants and he had said Outback had called him to see how long it would take to work on "x" amount of lighting fixtures for a new Outback to be built in Grand Forks. He said that apparently they are lookin for a place in town .. perferably 32nd Av, but they haven't heard the exact location, but anticipated it to be up within 2007 sometime ... guess we'll see. It would great to have them though :)

That place would so not survive here. This place is saturated with too many poor restuarants. The problem is most locals don't know the difference between good food and bad. Throw in an Outback with good food they can't appreciate but prices they aren't used to, they're asking for failure.

There is a texas road house that's about to open up. So I wouldn't be surprised to see an outback soon as well.

Personally, I like my grilling, or a local resturant's grilling better than a chain resturant. Mainly due the quality of meat being better(typically). Outback is better than the other chains in my opinion though.

I agree, people would probably dread the prices too. Also, apparently the Olive Garden was looking to make a home up in Grand Forks too.. not my favorite place but it beats driving to Fargo who do like it.

Actually I really like the chicken giardino or the tuscan garlic chicken, thats one of the few things Ill go to the Olive Garden for. Though the pasta isn't too bad it just doesn't strike me as being that great compared to other places. Then again I am not the biggest pasta fan either, which most people find odd since i am 50% Italian... oh well :)

no, id LOVE to correct you about my previous residence. i havent had a DIME from my parents since I was 17. (i am 24 now). rent, food, living expenses, have all been paid for directly and ONLY from my own means.

I told them no butter on my salmon. :mad: This bitches better not have given me butter. I should tell you about the story of this couple that came into Red Lobster smelling like rotten vagina. They smelled so bad that the waiter came over and asked if we would liked to be moved.
 
The worst service I have ever had when it comes to chain restaurant in Grand Forks has to be Applebees on Columbia. I walked out of there when I went with Venezuelana because no one showed up to offer us water or anything after 15 minutes of sitting down. To top it off, the restaurant wasn't even packed.
 
A few of the guys on the floor and I were just talking about Red Lobster last night. I've never been to Red Lobster out here. Only once back home, and it was okay. I prefer non-chain seafood restaurants. Or going to the fish market and getting some fresh seafood and cooking it myself. I don't trust seafood out here....fish isn't suppose to smell! Maybe I'm just spoiled from back home eating fresh seafood from the Atlantic Ocean only minutes away...wow I miss home sometimes...

outback would do well here. the one in fargo is the worst one i have ever been too. as long as it is better than that, it will survive. nothing can be worse than Bostons. that is the worst resturant i have ever been too (food and service)

Texas Roadhouse should do well. the one in Fargo is always packed and the steaks are almost as good as Outback

As I've said before, townies are happy with any service provided to them and won't ever speak up if something is wrong. Hence the service remains poor. The squeeky wheel gets the grease, but not in Grand Forks. People are too nice.

Oh gawd, Bostons. I will never forget that one time I waited 55 minutes for lunch at 3pm. My friend who was a CFI at UND at the time had to leave for a briefing without his food. All he ordered was a sandwich. We had to ask for the manager three times before the manager finally came over to our table.

I've been to Bostons 3 times and every time had slow service (food takes around 45 minutes) and COLD pasta. The place had potential, but they probably will have lost around $100 in profit from me because I will never return again. Multiply that by the amount of customers with the same bad experience and you just lost a huge amount of money.

Plus, me giving a bad review on Bostons...they just lost another $500.

You don't know how much I miss fresh fish and shrimp at our local fish market. I am so apprehensive about the frozen #### thats available here. Its a shame these people would never know of the great choices available and how great seafood really is.
