I'm just going to leave this here....

Heard a SWA go off on an RDU ground controller one morning because he allowed a US Air to push in front of him and block access to 05R. This was back before the new terminal was built.

The controller's response was awesome!

"Do you like people telling you how to do your job, captain? I suggest you shut up or I'll clear Delta to push in front of you too."

Needless to say, there was no response from SWA.

Delta pushes in front of everyone

They went off on ONT ground for Volaris towing too slowly in front of them.

Every carrier has their 5%. Some just have a bigger 5% than others!

Las night a United captain (it had to be the captain... I'm guessing) went off on the Maui approach controller because the new RNAV arrival keeps you at 10,000 feet (because: MOUNTAIN) instead of the old procedure of vectors that let you down to 5000 feet. He spent 2 or 3 minutes lecturing the controller about how he's flown to the islands for 20+ years and how absurd it is to have to stay at 10,000 and on and on an on. He was still going when I switched to tower and asked them to let approach know I had pushed over. 10 minutes later a United 737 lands. I'd had a least expected a widebody for all the grumbling the guy was doing.

I've heard of ground at BUR making SkyWest pull into the runup to let WN go ahead of them. Which would be fine, not everybody wants to fly to SJC at Mach point holy crap and get left too high "for spacing"

I got barked at in MDW for taxiing too slow by the plane behind me taxiing for takeoff

When it was icy as shizzle.

And the airport was on a ground stop for departures.

Imagine how much more awesome aviation would be if pilots were more self-aware and less socially awkward.

How dare you use good ADM during the course of your job? What are you, crazy? It's MDW, which means V1 rotate and max angle climbout to avoid gunfire off Cicero.

Watched a Southwest do some big S-Turns to 28L in SFO the other day. Still too high and went around. Kind of awkward when atc asked them why they went around.

Karma can be a bitch. This non-event could really have blown up in the face of this Alaska crew.

"Captain, according to SFO rules, that wasn't an overshoot. Your non-standard call on final caused confusion that compromised safety for all involved, and as the trailing aircraft you were responsible for maintaining separation and you came in hot and chased down Virgin creating a potentially dangerous situation."

I'm not suggesting that this was an accurate scenario but when you are a jerk others will work a little harder to identify your mistakes.

It never ceases to amuse/amaze me at just how difficult some folks can make the job.

"Did you write down the engine failure procedure?"

*pointing to the neatly folded print-out of takeoff performance data & the EFP*

"No, I printed it and it's right here if we need to reference it for anything."

"Write it down, wouldya?"

*siiiiiiiigh*

If we ever fly together, it needs to be written down on the printed out performance data.

Twice.

I once watched a Southwest 737 do S-turns on final, then go around and set off the TCAS of a JAL 777...which also had to go around. The next 30 seconds were intense on tower as JAL turned to the heading assigned to Southwest...

Can I have that 2 minutes back ;)
So I take it you hear this stuff all the time. You can squeeze another 4 masturbations in to make up for the 2 you lost.

This would typically occur to me flying with a CA where the PDC had changed the SID and Captain America had failed to notice it or update the FMC, even though I had pointed it out twice.

Third time's the charm I guess...

I was sitting in PHL back on the old commuter ramp where they were landing jets on 27R and props on 35. 737 on final decided he didn't like the spacing on the Dash that was on final, and decided to do a fairly low altitude go-around. About this time the tower called for the Dash to go-around and hilarity ensued.

That's always fun too. ATIS is saying certain runways are in use, I see all departures using one in particular during my walk around, program it in but get numbers for anything being advertised.

Captain puts in something that isn't even in use for "reasons" and says request that on the way out.

Okie dokie.

Long story short we end up using what I had in there in the first place. Rinse and repeat for four days. Not a big deal, it's just a few button presses, but c'mon maaaan.

Also, I'm stealing Captain America. It made me LOL out loud.

I finally got tired of prying out explanations for stuff that wasn't SOP. I don't care that you're doing something different, but hey, at least explain WTF your thought process is.

This job goes much smoother for all involved without making up stuff along the way.

Reason number 328 to upgrade.
