I'm going to...

I used to put my caller on hold to answer a stupid question from a random passenger who decided to interrupt my phone call because they cannot read signs in the airport.

Then I realized that is a rude thing to do to the person with whom I am talking. It's the exact reason why I no longer answer call waiting.

If people in the airport cannot find someone who is NOT on the phone, that's not my problem. I had a guy in ORD a few weeks back grab my arm while I'm talking to my Dad on the phone. I wheeled around, glared at him, and said "I'm on the phone!" Sure, we are customer service in a way, and if I'm not on a call, I'm more than happy to say "Yes, your gate is right behind you." However, if these folks cannot (a) read airport signs; (b) learn the difficult task of reading TV screens in plain English; (c) see that I'm not available and kindly go find someone who is, then it's not my problem. If they can be rude, so can I.

Now, if the rude person in question happens to be one who obviously is not from the States and has trouble with the English language, I will stop everything and help them. I would expect the same if I was in their shoes.

When my bluetooth headset gets fixed, I will wear it ... ONLY when I'm actually talking to someone. All other times it'll be in my pocket.

Just my opinion. Ya'll do what you like.

Makes sense to me, Bog.

If you must use a bluetooth, that's the way to do it. Those things look goofy, especially when you aren't on a call.

Im with most of you about the bluetooth in the ear thing

I use a handsfree (not bluetooth because my antique cell doesnt support it) when i am driving because it is the right thing to do (and the legal choice)

HOWEVER..i see so many teenagers and even adults walking around with the bluetooth in their ear regardless of whether they are talking or not. I think that is the tackiest cheesiest lame thing i have seen. The ONLY way i will sympathise is if you somehow have a job where you are potentially on the phone 12+ hours today and it makes no sense to take the piece off of your ear, other than that...WHY?

Please someone who wears their bluetooth sunup to sundown please respond and show me the light...

I don't wear one, but I have to think it's the convenience. The whole idea of the Bluetooth technology is to make it convenient to use the cell phone. I doubt it would be convenient to keep the ear piece in your pocket and take it out each and every time your phone rings.......

How lazy are we getting that we cannot reach down to get the phone out of its clip or pocket, open it, and press the button?

On top of that, if your Bluetooth is on, then your phone doesn't ring (at least mine doesn't), except in the ear piece. I have found the vibrate function still works, and this is what I use if I have to have the earpiece turned on in the car. Those headsets are annoying to me, but work great in the car; so I use it, then take it off.

I have a dark side to all this-- it's making the gate agents look bad. I hate gate agents. They are the spawn of Satan. If I can get a whole planeload of people to love me and hate them, then I am happy. Anyone who has had to commute understands this.

There is a special level of hell reserved for thieves, liars, Scientologists, and gate agents.

Hey, I resent some of those comments. But then again I am probably not your typical disgruntled gate agent. HOwever EWR, ATL, BOS all take the cake. Hell some of the ones I "work" with fit that description all well.

I have gotten "in trouble" a couple of times for helping out non-revs and commuters "too much". I took an offline J/S guy down the jetway steps and up to the plane, after I pulled the jetway back. That and the 3 people I sent to stand planeside durring a weight restriction "just to see" and they made it.

Next time you are up to BGR, give me a heads up and I'll show you how its done.
