I'm Certified - CFII Initial

Hot damn! Way to be!:nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2:

Congratulations! The initial is such a tough ride.

Eight hour oral? You're definitely celebrating tonight!!!

Good god, 8 hour oral?!? Now I'm even more nervous for my ride next week. Im also doing my CFII initial with the Teterboro FSDO. Scared as hell man. I talked to the checkride pilot and he said we would be starting at 9am and should be done by 2 in the afternoon. I dont know if I should believe that. He even told me what lesson plan to do for the oral, so hopefully this guy is kinda laid back. But with the FAA, you never know..But anyhow, congrats, go celebrate..

That sounds more normal. Don't worry since you are not dealing with the Fort Worth FSDO. We started at 8am yesterday, weren't done until after 5:30 (after the offices were closed), then finished some stuff up this morning before the long long flight. He pretty much went down the PTS and covered every single item. I think its because he rarely does light airplane checkrides (usually does Citation X type ratings). I was originally going to take the G1000 equipped plane there and he would have been one of the only inspectors that would have known glass cockpits, so I got assingned to him. Very nice guy, but very thorough and time consuming.

Don't be nervous, just make a bunch of flash cards for FOI and read the relevant parts of the AIM and make notes to yourself. The flight you know how to do already, just talk a lot and constantly instruct and you'll be fine.

Something that should be remedied after the first of Feb. Remind me again why I said "yes" to training FSDO inspectors on the G1000?!??!

Now, we just have to get ya through the MEI and the CFI and you're good to go. :)

Which inspector are you doing it with the Teterboro FSDO is it Bishop?

Congrats Brett!

congrats BrettInLJ! :)

I do have a question a bit off topic...

How difficult is it for a newly minted CFI to get a job? Would flight schools/employers rather hire a more experienced CFI versus a less experienced CFI?

Thanks!

Depends on where you spent your money. Flight schools are pretty loyal to their customers, as they should be.

Very true with that! Its about who you know, your willingness to move, luck, and persistance.

Also, I have a feeling if you get your CFI in early spring it may be easier because it is starting to get busy. In the wintertime, there may still be some slack in the schedule even when another instructor leaves.
