I'm an airline pilot!!!! well, kinda.

My sim partner in training was doing se work with #1 (left) out. He was hosed up and did a go around and stomped on the left rudder and countered with the yoke. I am screaming right rudder right rudder, totally caught upin the illusion the plane rolled upside down and and 18 became 81 at 200 ft the nose fell in the roll aimed at the numbers. I remember thinking... this is a stupid way to die. At any rate the sim shook out of control and wouldn't stop until it was broken. They physically had to change some hydraulics or actuators it was a hard break.
Unfortunately (or maybe not) my pard never got past lesson 3 and I had a FSI guy pull gear for my PC. Those sims can get very violent.

If your kneecap broke during training, you could probably sue for $1,000,000.

Depends. One of our guys just found out you only get paid for OJI if you're out for 7+ days. He was out for 6 and got a rude surprise on his next paycheck. If people started suing over injuries in the sim, they'd probably start making us sign waivers before getting in. :)

"Guard the horn, please."

There's no "guard the horn" where I worked. - you mashed the Horn Mute yourself, and brought the power levers to flight idle with your forearm. (usually when you're on a 3-mile final at 248kts)

As as much as flying the 1900 is much fun, I found the 1900 simulator to be nothing like flying a 1900. Kind of sucks that you fly the 1900 everyday - 120 hrs a month, but then to come in for a 4-hr RPC, and you have to spend a few minutes getting used to flying the sim so that you don't bust the PC on your stall and steep turn profiles.

A couple years back, the 1900 sim at flightsafety orlando, started some kind of violent pitch movment, that yanked the control wheel so hard it broke either the wrist or arm( I dont remember which), of the pilot flying, pretty intense. But everyone else is right, if you think the 1900 sim is fun, you should fly the plane...:D

One of the scariest experiences I had in my aviation career was in a simulator where the computer went crazy. The sim started going crazy for no apparant reason (metroliner sim) and my instructor started yelling obscenties followed by the: "spread your legs!!!!" The stick pusher started going then flying back at my crotch fast repeatedly. My instructor tried hitting the emergency stop and that didn't do anything. We crashed so hard it knocked panels off the sim and it took them a few hours to get it back together. I hate simulators.

Well it being something dealing with a metro is reason enough.:D

Agreed- the sim really didn't mimic the real look and feel of the real airplane.

I remember hating how sensitive the power levers were in the sim- very squirrelly. There was real force in them in the real airplane, and the needles on the Tq gauges didn't just fly all over the place like Lindsey Lohan's legs.
