IFR/VFR

Has anybody done a composite IFR/VFR special corridor along the hudson river (Statute of Liberty) from the north. Is it still possible in the days of ADIZ/TFR's. Looking for some help. Thanks

I flew up to ny last week and flew the hudson. I took off ifr from Kfrg and put in the comments that i wanted to fly the river. after some shady vectors and a really rapid descent from 6000 to 2000 they cleared me direct to lga vor. then direct throggs neck bridge, direct lga tower, dir central park, then to intercept the river and fly it south...it was well worth the hellish time it took to gt the controllers to allow it..lga was in a huge rush at that time and traffic was all over.....just ask them in the air and im sure they will accomodate.

I instructed out of Teterboro and flew most of the discovery flights down the hudson and up the east river vfr.

If you need any info or tips let me know.

I've done it 5 times so far (1 more with mom and dad before back to Florida in a few weeks). Have had absolutely no problems with the controllers- you just have to have a plan before you go, let them know what you want to do, try to know the local landmarks (south stansion of Throgs Neck, the cab- LGA tower, north tip- Roosevelt Island, Alpine Twr, etc), and listen up and be succinct on the radio.

Its amazing you can do it these days.
