IFOD evening program

Curious if anyone here has completed the IFOD night program? I'm considering it but am concerned with how it may fit into my schedule. I'm a local DFW resident, but I work full-time, and unfortunately, quitting my job is not an option. I'd like to avoid a distance learning/online program as I prefer actually attending class + IFOD is in my backyard and I've heard positive things about their program.

If you've gone through the program, how much studying is there outside of class? On paper, a schedule that involves working 8-5, attending class from 5-10, Mon-Fri, for 8 weeks seems pretty rough. I don't see much time for studying in that schedule- though I know the night class is designed for people, like me, who work full-time.

Would greatly appreciate thoughts from anyone who has attended the IFOD night program.

Thank you!

Not gonna lie, unless you come from an aviation background or have other practical knowledge (pilot, meteorology, etc.) and if your day job doesn't afford you time to study while working it's gonna be a real challenge. Not to say it's insurmountable, but be aware you are going to be fed and expected to digest vast amounts of information in a short period.

So just make damn sure you gut check before hopping in! You gotta really want it and you will need to get used to operating on less sleep!

I was in the day class earlier this year. Used all my vacation so I didn't have to work and I'm glad I did. 8 hrs in class, then 3-4 hrs at the library each day. I'm not saying it's impossible, but you will have ZERO spare time. When were you planning on going? Would you be able to get some independent study in before hand? You could get ch 1 and 7 (and maybe 3) memorized and out of the way before you start class. Would make the first couple weeks a little easier.

Several of our Dispatchers are IFOD alumni and I think a couple did the night class. I can find out for you what they thought of it (though obviously all of them made it or they wouldn't be here).

I greatly appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts. You have each confirmed what I figured was the case: the schedule is going to be rough. I'll continue to weigh my options and see if anyone who has attended the night program from IFOD might chime in on their specific experience.
