If you REALLY need a job

The one thing I dislike about living in Orange County, is more than 50% of people that go out to bars/lounges are doing coke or some form of narcotic. I had no clue this was going on until recently.
It's even more interesting when one of them gets caught, versus someone who is less socioeconomically privileged/white getting caught with crack.

There's a reasonable chance you could work for one of these places and have no idea.
All kidding aside, that is why when asking for ANY job in Mexico you should do a little digging and reserach your potential employer as well. I hear this story about this Chick, first day on the job FO on a Citation, and the feds came and arrested everyone involved in the operation of the aircraft, crew and line guys, regardless. From what I hear, after she was released from jail she never flew again (voluntarily), Captain lost his passport and the line guys the FBO got them out.

To all the snide comments, I'd imagine that other than the risk of being imprisoned, this is probably a "relatively safe" place to work in most parts of the operation. Realistically, the airplanes are probably really nice if they're flying across the border, because you wouldn't want to draw attention to yourself if you were moving a bunch of drugs across the border. Everything probably has the external appearance of being incredibly legit, smugglers aren't Han Solo (successful ones anyway) the good ones are the ones you don't even realize are smugglers. In fact, I'd bet serious money, that most of the crews involved in the drug trade have no idea they're even involved:

I'd imagine that there are a bunch of charter companies that periodically have "shipments" moved under inspection panels, etc. If you get too greedy you'd do something stupid and not be able to use that avenue any more, so it'd have to be seamless. Frankly, I'd be cautious pretty much any time you left the airplane unattended and were planning on making a northbound border crossing.
Some places, it pays to take along your own sniffer dog to help you during pre-flight.

I know someone who flew for the cartels "unknowingly" and got busted. Spent a number of years in jail. He "claims" (and I am inclined to believe him) that he was flying a queen air for them out of Miami. They had some sort of shipping operation that he was regularly tasked with monitoring by air. They would regularly fly over the boats and monitor their progress in some fashion. One day he landed and law enforcement was there. He was very emphatic that he didn't know he was working for a cartel yet he still spent something like 5 years in jail for drug smuggling. Don't have the whole story but I can confirm he was a ATP rated pilot at one point and can confirm the time spent in jail. When you look up his FAA records it shows "For further information, you may contact the Airmen Certification Branch at toll free (866) 878-2498."

End the war on drugs and you wouldn't have to worry about this. Hard stuff like PCP or LSD, sure. But cocaine and marijuana? Legalize that crap. Everyone is terrified and ready to spend billions on more wars with ISIS because they beheaded a few westerners. If only the average American knew how many beheadings are done in Mexico and how many people are slaughtered in the drug trade business.....

Not as many as you think, and not as many as it was, but there's definetly some of that going on

Beheadings happen and though the numbers may not be that high, there are still other types of murders in targeted assassinations, killings of drug mules, competitors, etc.

Anyone watch Liveleak? I swear the worst videos (gun executions) are almost all in Brazil. I'm talking a guy just sitting in a restaurant chair or outside getting on his bike and some assailant comes and shoots him in the head and as he falls dead, shoot him another 6 times in the head/torso. Hooray for the site of the 2016 Olympics! No wonder they can't sell half the tickets to that place.

I think Zika virus and poop in the water hurt Olympic ticket sales more than crime. As westerners we are immune to the crime and impoverishment of our vacation destinations.

What's wrong with LSD?

Zika? Meh, I've had Dengue and Chikungunia. Zika is a hybrid of Dengue, not worried, nor should anyone with even an OK immune system. Concurred both (maybe all 3) in less than 18 hours. I keep telling everyone, Mountain Dew cures ALL ailments! :)

U.S. District Judge Gray Miller said during Arevalo-Kessler’s sentencing. “I mean, he’s flown fighter pilot — or piloted fighter planes. He’s flown commercial jets, small and large. Unfortunately, like he said, he was blinded by the greed and got himself in the situation that he got himself into.”
You don't say? Interesting quote.

What's wrong with LSD?
LSD is far more benign then many drugs, and has less adverse effects than cocaine. But drugs r bad and ruin your life, mmmkay?

Oh I wasn't advocating it for recreational use. Ecstasy would be my go-to if I wanted to "see things". LSD is for psychiatric treatments.
