Icing-What do you do?

Fwiw, Moderate and greater icing conditoins normally are found at the top of the cloud formations. The tops are usually right at the point where water is at it's coolest, and just about to freeze. Every time I've had moderate or worse, it's been right in the tops.

As far as planning goes, if you arn't going to be able to get out of the tops, it may bnot be better to climb, or delay the climb until you will be able to clear completely. If the tops are at 11, and ATC can only get you up to 9 or 10, odds are you may only make it worse for yourself until you can get above 11. Icing assosiated with a cold front will tend to "climb" as you move west, at your altitude the band of ice will tend to be narrow. Weather on the northwest side of a high usually isn't that conducive to icing, but the NE side will be.
