Again -- I'm not saying I wouldn't live in Houston; if there was a reason to such as a job. But I think it doesn't compare to some other cities in this country in regards to things that are being discussed in this thread.
I've been to every major city in the USA several times except for Miami and there are a lot of other more well-traveled people on this forum and I can think of a dozen other places that are more culturally vibrant than Houston.
Seattle. Boston. Washington DC. Philadelphia. Chicago. San Francisco. Los Angeles.
Some of these places are generations older than Houston and have a downtown area to prove it.

Houston has a huge cultural life to it actually. World class museums, music, and shows make it only second to NYC to the amount of cultural events going on in the city.
