I stand corrected, what's it like to fly the ERJ-140/145?

Don't ever, ever pass up a class date in hopes that you'll be on X equipment instead of Y, unless the situation on Y is just not workable.

Ever.

Convince yourself of this before continuing.

We can agree to disagree...I make this statement being one class away from the April 2008 class that got canned on day one of indoc at RAH, so if I would have waited, yea canned, I still got furloughed though. That being said I just don't think the future is in the 145 at RAH.

Everyone has their reasons other than just equipment type. Although applicants get offered the job, things at home may not be stable enough to leave so quick. Then again, most people there (including myself) bypassed for the E-Jet. I was mostly interested in the ACY casino flying, but that filled up and all that remained was the Q400 and 140/145.

I don't thinking waiting is good....when they called back in Feb, I was unable to take a class so they put me at the bottom I guess. I can see where HR is definitely I could give a rats arse about you as it took 17 calls to reach them after they left a message. From experience, they don't return phone calls either. I'm not bitching, just on observation, one in which I've prepared myself for so it's not exactly a shocker.

Location at this point doesn't matter, I'm out of the loop regardless of site but if I get stuck, what's better for movement? So you can only switch once you upgrade or after 2 years as Captain, is my understanding. Granted, I have no idea if I'll still be around.

I'm really happy for you, Bunk. It's a step in the 121 world for you and that is what matters. It's not for life, it's for experience, connections and time building. Keep us posted on how it all goes. Wishing you the best.

You deserve more, but I am glad you are starting out somewhere and there are far worse places, some better, but you get what you get and like I said, it's not forever. With your personality and background, and being the true professional that you are, you'll be fine. Hell, you'll be better than fine. Attitude and perspective is the game here. You still have a lot to look forward to career wise. Long term goals, buddy. This is your new beginning. Enjoy yourself. It's what you make of it and don't let anyone bring you down. Stay positive.

Congrats sir, I think anything they have to offer will be good. All you need is a little 121 time before you can move on to somewhere worthy.

It's tough as I have buddies who were hired right into the big boys....it was timing but I'm also at the low end spectrum in flight time so I'm on the low end of being competitive. My buddy and fellow Navy pilot has been hired by Skywest, got an email for interview with United and interviews with Virgin next week. He has 4800 hours though, 1800 more than me, much more competitive. Is what it is. To be honest, I would not do the Regional thing if it weren't for my retirement pay, I couldn't go from $120k a year to $20k.

You will get there. Timing and hours. FedEx awaits, buddy. At least you'll be okay financially also and won't have to sweat that.

Congrats Bunk! If your over 5'10 don't forget to duck. That damned airplane stings and the lav has a very low tolerance for poop. Anything over 1.5 early in the morning and its gonna smell like a 16th century dungeon.

My first flight instructor works for chautauqua on the 140/145. From talking with him he's glad he went there vs some other places, and like others said check that 121 box and you'll be up with the big boys! Congrats on the new gig

I've got more time than I'd like to admit in the ol' 145 but most of the comments are right on.

It's not the best, biggest, fastest bird out there but she's honest and has a nice mix of not being over-the-top automated but not Jurassic era either. Most of the systems are highly automated, the Navigation functions less so.

She is loud up front so I'd suggest either investing in some head gear or ear plugs.

As others have said once you pass the mid-20's the climb can get anemic ESPECIALLY if it's warm out. ISA +10 and it's going to be a slow climb.

Landing her is pretty easy...Speed stays very stable with full flaps out, less so with reduced flap landings. I'm not sure what problem jtrain has with the 45 landings but they're very predictable and the approaches are most stable.

And definitely take the first class you can get. A few years ago 1 class date would have meant a huge difference in my QOL...

I'm most likely the problem :)

Congrats! I believe the Navy wings will make you much more competitive than you think you are (especially if SouthernJetz ever hires again...) Now it's time to wait for the right opportunity. At least the 121 world will keep you current and add more time to the book. Congrats on the job!!

I'd say the aircraft is adequately powered.

The XR is probably "adequately powered." The rest...not so much. :D
