My love of WWII aircraft may have something to do with my home base. Where else are you sharing the pattern with P-51's, P-38's and the last flying Zero or A-20 ? There are a lot of amazing war birds on my field but to see a B-17 in flight stops me in my tracks.

Retired Col. Tom Barr told the crew of the this B-17 they would sure get a case of liquor if they named their B-17 bomber "Southern Comfort." On Wednesday, the distiller is coming through for Barr with a ceremony to honor him at the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs.

My wife's father was a B17 waist gunner durning WWII. She took him on a static display B17 at Chino. He kept saying he remembered the plane being a lot bigger.

Side note, the B17 at Chino is the same one used in the TV show Twelve O'clock High. They only had one.
