I fly out of North Las Vegas as a CFII. I have 700TT/120ME. Anyway, some guy came in the other day looking for a pilot to fly for him. I interviewed at his house on Monday and got the job flying his King Air C90.... I'm gonna be PIC of a turbine powered airplane!!!! WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's a pilot too, but needs someone to back him up. He said I can log it all as PIC after the first couple flights (since he doesnt need the time building)... Anyway, our first trip is to Washington DC on the 8th!

.... SO HAPPY, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!

He's paying 1500 a month plus the accommodations paid wherever we go.... I'd take 1500 anytime for PIC turbine... plus its about the same, if not more than some regionals out there

Congratulations. What is this considered, charter?

Sounds like a part 91 gig in a personal plane...

Congrats! Awesome Job!

Yeah, its 91.... My first flight is next week. I'm gonna be gone or 2 weeks going to Denver, Chicago, Pittsburgh, somwhere in FL, then goin down south to the Dominican Republic. He said he flies around 500 hours a year, which is ok. I'm just ecstatic because its Turbine PIC

So how does all that work you being able to log it as PIC even though he is piloting the airplane? What about your checkout or training in the plane? Where does that come from? or is there any need for it?

First off, Congrats on the job! Sounds pretty exciting. Now I don't want to try and rain on your parade, but are there any req's as to a checkout and then the acting/logging PIC? Curious as to how it works and how different it is being pt. 91. vs pt 135.

Thanks everyone.... He's "checking me out" in the aircraft by training me throughout our first couple of flights. After that, I'll be the only guy in the cockpit, as far as I know, hence, the "PIC." He also plans on sending me to Flight Safety next month, but that's mostly to lower the insurance..... oh, and I dont think there are any regs against it... I have my high alt and high performance endorsements, so as far as I know, I'm qualified to fly it and log it.... but I'll be sure to check into it all before I put anything down on my logbook.... Wooo!

Sounds like he'll still have time to CFI, so 18K should be a great suppliment of his CFI income. Once again, AWESOME Man!

That'll be fun!

Isn't $18K a year kinda low for this kind of work?

$18,000 is awesome for this kind of work. Especially with 700TT. Just think, if he was flying a slightly bigger version of the C90 (B-1900D) for a certain airline (great lakes) he'd be making less than $1,000/month. Excellent job, kudos to you, and enjoy the paid vacations!

So he's a pilot and not going to fly that nice ride himself? Wow.

Congrats!

Be sure to take your Flight Saftey training very seriously, study the h-ll out out of any kingair manuals you can get your hands on, stay up on NTSB write-ups about king air stuff.

'not sure what you experience backround is like, but don't let your excitement shadow the fact that you now have a new level of responsibilty - higher and faster. Stay on top of it and stay safe.

Good Job- Stay there as long as you can. That pay is good compared to 1st year regional and Im sure the schedule is a lot better. plus- the PIC column is golden
