I got called a Tuna can today.....

I've got all sorts of names for the 402. Clown car (ever see 10 people pile out of that thing?), 10-man bobsled, martini shaker, etc.

At XJT, I always liked Brazilian taco rocket, pencil jet, and bent-wing pencil jet (145XR :D). Speaking of the last two (and XJTers would get this), if you see a random Cape Air airplane following you and calling you "jetlinkin," say hi. :D

I've been called a bugsmasher before, but learned that airplane envy works both ways...from the student pilot flying a 152, watching some shiny jet pass by, to the crew of a shiny jet watching me taxi by in a pitts....don't worry about the name callers, they're just jealous.

(or they're not, who cares, you're flying an airplane and probably having more fun than them :p)

This thread is a great example of pilots and ego.. good and bad. I've waxed philosophical on that note before.

Either way, it's a great way we can all remember that no matter what we fly, no one airplane does it all, and there's reason to love anything we can call an airplane.

I zoom zoom around all day in a shiny jet, but was happy as a clam to get some time in a "bugsmasher" recently. I've been slobbering over the idea of flying a glider.

Silly folks we are, us pilots. Perpetual malcontents. C'est la vie. :)

According to your story Charlie it was a runway smasher.

P.S. how was the date????

Runway smasher indeed. Boing, boing, boing. Renewed currency in one landing.

The date? Of a similar nature, but not in nearly as fun a connotation as one might hope. *shrugs* I don't really think it's going anywhere.
