I'm a traffic watch pilot now! Just finished my last training flight today and I'm on the schedule for Thursday to have my first flight as a real traffic watch pilot, let loose, so to speak. I'm kind of excited... this is my first real flying job where I get paid to be nothing but a pilot. I'm finally enacting my privileges as a commercial pilot (I don't count CFIing as commercial pilot operations) :D


Hopefully this job will last long enough to serve it's purpose. The company that cancelled slushie's contract in Las Vegas is the same one that unfortunately supplies the reporters for our planes in Los Angeles. Regardless, I will enjoy it while it lasts!

It is kinda ironic that you got hired on while slushie just got laid off, all by the same company...
 
I thought so to. Maybe, different locations, different demand? I know though, sucks and more than likely we'll be next
 
I will be until I get enough shifts doing traffic that I won't have time, if I can somehow get enough shifts. There seem to be a lot of "crusty old crabs" who do this and they won't give up their shifts for anything. We'll see lol
 
Congrats...IMO, I wouldn't give up the CFI gig for it ever.

lol...old crusty crabs! that is how the fish spotting world is too down here and it's all passed down in the family and friends first. Ha, we need some kind of way to get the raisins out the cockpit. Ha, new rule for the FAA coming...If your **** don't work naturally then it don't need to be in a cockpit. ...and if the boobs touch your belt line your out of there too..:D
 
Congrats! You've come a long way.

Don't worry about those old salts. They seem to gravitate towards traffic watch for some reason. I had one like 9-10 years ago tell me straight up to not expect to ever get "his" flying. Must be some kind of weird club or something where they all get together and talk about how they own the flying! :sarcasm:

I'll be based out of KWHP and ocassionally fly out of KEMT if they need me to cover a shift
 
Congrats... gotta admit, it does sound more fun than saying "airspeed......airspeed....pitch for your airspeed...... now add power.......etc" :drool:
