I finished Pro-line Confusion...err, Fusion training at Flight Safety for my company...

It's like they let Xibit loose on an otherwise trusty steed. "Yo dawg, I heard you like moving maps!"

From what flight safety tells me the fusion will only be standard for two years. Basically, until the contract with Rockwell ends and they switch all King Airs to G1000. And having 200 hours in the Fusion 350 I totally agree that it's too much avionics for a King Air and that money should have been spent elsewhere.
Fusion system is going to be around for awhile. As far as I know there's nothing in development for a Garmin transition in the KAs.

Hopefully it is something better than the 1000...

Farging pilots...whinge that proline is too much, then whinge about G1000 not being capable enough. G1000 was a great system 8 years ago when I flew it and they've only improved it since then.

And even then it has its limits...

I never complained about PL21, or the EASy system in the Falcon... If nothing else, the visual approach feature in PL21 should be standard in all systems.

But the King Air flies a different mission than the Falcon. I liked the avionics in the KA I flew. No init time at all for the gyros.

Wam bam thank you ma'm, gear up!

"See airport, fly to airport" is pretty standard.

You would think so, but people still seem to be landing in the wrong place, and the ability to have a stabilized approach to any airport in the world is a beautiful thing.

Does PL take a long time to fire up? Maybe the standby but not the rest.

There isn't enough processor power in the Phenom version of the G1000. They have tried to do too much with it and as a result is ridiculously laggy.

I attribute that to people not taking literally ten seconds to pull the VFR sectional up on their Ops-Spec'd EFB of choice to see what part of town the airport was dropped at. Ya don't need to do it every time, but it helps for unfamiliar airports.

Technology can only minimize the impact of stupidity, not eliminate it.

You are absolutely right, and it is exactly why I think it a great option. If you make the use of technology standard practice, it can damn near eliminate the brain farts.

Exactly right, you have to use it all the time and have procedures in place to trap the errors that high tech cockpit can create.

Sounds like a perfect reason to use it all the time instead of being afraid of it.
