I can no longer recommend David Clark headsets, their quality is horrible

The next headsets I buy will be David Clark. David Clark has always been there for me with customer service, quality and price. I like the ANR of Bose, but not enough to ever change my mind.

The DC I wore a few times was way too tight for my head. I liked the Lightspeeds and have NOT had any problems and one dealing with Customer Service was great!

I still don't get why people will put a clampy, passive headset on their heads...

My DC has ENC. And when the battery dies, the passive noise insulation is better than Bose. It is a bit clampy, but I flew several hundred hours with a Bose X and noticed that some part inside one of the ear-shells would lightly touch the cartilage of my right ear which would become excruciatingly painful after an hour or so. The A20s might be better. I haven't really tried them yet.

Anyway, I have a Oregon Aero headpad on my DCs which increases the overall comfort and importantly, the ear-shells stay off my ear cartilage. Whatever clampiness is left just keeps it secure on my head.

Another thing that upsets me, I sent in my headset with explicit instructions to not throw out my ear seals. I told them over the phone, thru email, and a note in the box. I had just bought new ones, and when they do the refurb they include new ear seals, so I would have ended up with two sets. Instead, they discarded my recently bought ear seals, money down the drain.

Why didn't you just remove the ear seals before shipping them to DC if they were going to replace them anyhow? I had just bought new ear seals for my Telex 850 before I sent them in for repair. Removed the ear seals, replaced during refurbish and I have a spare set of seals.

I had a David and Clark for 8 years and still have it as my backup and it works great, I sent it in once for refurbishment and they basically sent me back a new headset so I was truely happy with the customer service expierence. Last year I upgraded to a Lightspeed Zulu and I have to say I am truly happy with this headset, the noise cancelling is great, and I especially enjoy the bluetooth function since my Iphone streams music to it.

I still use a DC 13.4 when I'm towing for a few reasons: With the gel seals, it is pretty comfortable. I like hearing the engine, as I usually don't trust it much. The Bose doesn't play nice with the intercom. And I don't need to remember batteries. These are also very short flights.

For a 5 hour X/C, the Bose is nice. Replacing the ear seals every 6 months, no so nice. (The ones on my DC are 10+ years old)

To follow up on this I sent it in, and they replaced the cracked piece. They covered shipping both ways. It was their screw up, they forgot to replace that piece apparently. They made it up however and fortunately I had a spare (Bose X).

See. Even the good places screw up from time to time. Can't say one mistake is all they get. Especially since they rectified the problem in the best way they could.

I was amazed that they were able to send me a new set of gel-seals for my H20-10 last week for free even though the headset is 8 years old. I had to send the bad ones in (which I did on Monday) and had new seals Friday. I plan on using my DCs for at least the next few years now.
