I am so sick of Chuck Yeager...

I was going to say, those who have met or known Yeager have all said the same thing....d**che. I was lucky, I got meet Randy Cunningham on several occasions....wait, scratch that, another d**che. I wish I could have met Olds. I did meet Joe Foss though, total class act.

I somehow typed "Robin Olds" when I meant "Randy Cunningham" up above. A thousand pardons, General Olds. I do, it turns out, know the difference. :(

Derg is really the only famous aviator Ive met and that dude was a real dbag, slappin toddlers, kickin girls, sippin up the foam from your beer when you're not looking, you name it. A real class act.

I heard he steals jumpseats from little old ladies

Good family friend served under Gen Olds in the 555th as a young Capt. Didn't have many good things to say about the man. I don't know that it changes things though if he were a jerk.........the same mentality that offends people is the one that goes out there hunting for weaklings and sends them to an early grave. I think all of these guys pushed the limit further than many were comfortable with, and saw results. Same could probably be said for the guys who are really successful on wall st or other predatory environments.

It's a fair point. Of course, the difference is that they fought under color of Law, whereas the Wall St. scum fight only for themsevles. Some would see it as an academic distinction, but I think it's important. What is the old saw? Something like "Bad times call for bad men". I doubt Chesty Puller would win any Women's Garden Association awards for eloqution or fine manners, either.

If it makes you guys feel any better, Chuck Yeager asked at my friend's mom many years ago and she said "no."

Same goes for golf. The better the golfer you are, the bigger the asshat you are. That's why lefty took so long to win a major - he was just too nice of a guy. Woods, Couples, Faldo, and Weiskopf (my dad-in-law carried his bag for a round) all come to mind.

I had the great opportunity to sit in a bar in Michigan in a horrible snow storm with Bob Hoover and a few of my best friends at the time, six hours of the best stories I've ever heard.I also live down the street from a PGA golfer, what a Richard, he owns a local course and stopped myself and my son and daughter in mid round because he didn't want kids on his course that day. My kids are 12-14 and were with me, we played at a acceptable pace and there was no one following us. The owners daughter was running the club house and apologized profusely, but we just don't go there anymore.

I've found that even the guys working behind the counter at golf courses can be intolerable. Strangely, in my experience, it's been the guys working the counter at public golf courses that are the worst. At private clubs they tend to give you the same level of courtesy and service they give members.

I flew Nick Price and his wife a few years ago in a little King Air, and they were extremely nice. Flew them again afterwards, same thing. Some people are just solid.

That's cool. There are some good ones on tour. D. Love III seemed like a standup guy. Lefty waited around after his round until every kid that wanted an autograph got one - even sent his wife to the club ahead of him so that he could stay. Chatted with him about multi-engine flying for a bit.

He and Gulfstream Girl would make a good crew.

HAHA GULFSTREAM GIRL!
I posted a comment on her video saying she only got that job because she had a hot boxx and the captain was a old perv! Her commenters would eat off her butt if she wanted.
