Does anyone know when Cathay Pacific started hiring foreigners in their cadet program. When I tried a few years back they said for Hong Kong citizens only, but now they seem to be hiring cadets from all over the world. When did this change? I know someone who just got in and I want to make sure I wasn't shafted back then.

From what I know, it changed relatively recently (i.e. <6 months ago). On PPrune, there were some Canadians who had interviews there for cadet positions.

It's too bad they are going in this direction though. They're scrapping their old program of hiring foreign pilots as SOs and giving them housing allowance to move to HKG, and hiring low timers or zero-timers and NOT giving any housing allowance at all. They are apparently trying to start a "short course" program where they will hire foreign pilots who have CPL or frozen ATPLs with min 250hrs as well. This is all coming from PPrune forums.
