Has slammed the door on you scum of the earth externals another year.

Sounds like a small class. Those with dispatch experience need not apply.

How bout this. They are hiring flight attendants. You could do that then you'd be in a position as an internal transfer. That, or work the ramp.

With bad knees, neither position is a go for me. Both require lots of time on your feet, something I can't do anymore. No, I'll just build experience at my regional, then see what happens. By that time, Delta may be hiring externals again... ;)

Delta for a long time never hired external. It was just a recent phenomenon that they did. If you really want to work at a major just get to the idea of Dallas or Chicago. I'd you only want Delta try to get on with them in another department. But to think they will hire external again you might be waiting a long time.

I know that there are people at my regional that have YEARS of time in; they've been trying to get to a major, and no luck. Hence my comment about being there for a while-long enough for Delta to change its hiring practices.

Then again, majors aren't the only option; there are 121 supplementals, the cargo operators (FedEx & UPS), and even 135s. I might go 135 so I can be back home again. Once I get a year or so at the regional level, I'll have more options open to me...

Do they hire schedulers externally, or do they go internal for them as well?

Surprised that they posted an opening now, thought it would be after their academy come December or so.

That's still a crap shoot to get in. Still need to pass the test IF you get selected. Personally... I'd rather dispatch somewhere else rather than grovel for a job by working in a position I don't enjoy and risk possibly never getting a dispatch job there.

They are going through a contract companies for crew schedulers....paying 21.23 per hour with 6 month contracts but when I ask the question if these positions could turn into permanent full time with the company the contract recruiter beat around the bush and didn't understand my question.
