How's this for professionalism?

If it was purchased through ebay, report him to ebay, while providing a copy of that e-mail response. ebay has rules, and if he hasn't provided the service you purchased, he shouldn't be allowed to do business on eay, any longer.

Despite the fact that it is "just for $69", I would bring him to court, simply for his response. I would have a copy of that e-mail to provide to the judge. His claim may have been "no refunds", but he is in breach of contract, when he doesn't provide the service that you paid for.

As an update, the guy did actually apologize. We traded a few additional emails and worked things out. He said he responded to my previous emails, but for some reason, I never got them.

He gave me $20 back and the contact info for the instructor who has my other $50. At least I'm done dealing with the guy. I appreciated his apology, but boy did he get nasty!

Good to hear everything is working out for ya, murdoughnut. What is so damned hard about NOT screwing folks out of money and doing the right thing?

Anyway, cool beans, dude!!

P.S. - Your avatar is officially the shiznack! Go Sawx!

Methinks showing that reply at court will probably not endear him to the judge. I'm just amazed he could be stupid enough to email a letter like that.

Definitely take him to court and contact the attorney general as a possible fraud conviction will make it harder for him to start another business. This guy is ripping people off and you'll be doing the world a favor by suing him.

Don’t let it slide even though its only 69$, tools like this getaway with screwing people because too many people write it off because it’s not a whole lot of money. Secondly, he passes the buck to the instructor.. Was there a disclaimer about this “At your own risk” did he say the instructors are contracted and he is not reasonable for their actions?? No he’s responsible for it, bottom line. Yeah, and the Judge wont like his letter, judges look at character, and obsessively this tool has none. He would have no counter claim whatsoever… You can’t operate a business and say it’s not my problem you need to contact such and such… It would be like the CEO of a company saying to a group of people who did not receive services that were paid for that he/she could not do anything about it.. blah blah… I say rake him over the coals..

Its funny how some of these people work. They think scaring you will make you go away.

I had a similar issue with a deck builder. He took a $2500 deposit and never built the deck. When I left him a voicemail about filing a police complaint, he left me a nasty response about how I am an idiot for trying to file a complaint, and that he doesn't have any time to waste as he manages major construction projects (still he couldn't give me back my deposit) and that the business was in his son's name, not his.

Then a day later, he called asking if he could have the contact number for the cop who came to my place to take information from me. He paid me back the full amount.

Jesus, im tempted to call them up and complain.

some people...

and he "wasted 3.5 yrs" paying off kids that wern't his.

haha, i bet he is a real winner.

Plz let us all know how this all pans out. Even if its in a year. I really want to hear how you helped karma wreck this loser. People like this guy should be castrated (sp). He got balls calling you arrogant, he should re-read what he wrote. THATS arrogance.

Is this guy a pilot? You need a medical to be a pilot, sounds like he has anger management or other issues. (Catch my drift?)

Just did a search on Google for "AviatorAcademy," and, no surprise, it looks like this dude was spamming a lot of aviation, career, and classified ad sites late last year with "testimonials."

Apparently JC wasn't spared either. This member, AviatorAcademy, joined, made two posts (which were probably spam because they were deleted), and was never heard from again. :laff:

Yeah - most of the criticism I heard was that the material was just ripped from the procedures manuals - that was actually fine with me - it motivated me to read it and I learn best on my own. What I really signed up for was the CFII sign off which I didn't get. I taught myself the test qustions using the Sporty's DVD's, and the Jepp manual - but I wanted the sign off to take the exam.

For those that didn't see my follow up, he eventually apologized for his tone/language and gave me a refund for the portion he made off of me - he said the instructor was paid the rest. I've contacted the instructor but haven't heard anything yet. The instructor's name is Guthrie Beardmore if anyone's ever heard of him - I think he's up in Michigan.

I usually have a very refined BS detector, that's why I'm surprised that I got screwed on this one. In the owner's defense, I do think it was my instructor's incompetence that led to the problem. Still, that doesn't excuse the email he sent me.
