HOWDY!

Howdy everyone.
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Scott, and I've been lurking around for a while. I got my PPL while I was in highschool (washed a lot of airplanes and mowed a lot of lawns). After I graduated (escaped) high school I enlisted in the Marines. I spent five years as an airframe mechanic on the Presidential helicopter fleet. I had a blast, traveled the world, genrally worked hard and played harder. I met my wife while I was at Quantico and since she was going to be a doctor, I wouldn't be able to stay in and be able to go wherever she was going to Medical School. So I decided to get out and become a airline pilot. After I got out I went to the Flight Safety Academy, started Oct 11, 2001. Not exactly the best timing, but I went and got my CFII & MEI anyway. My wife was admited into Med School and we are now in San Antonio TX. I have been working as a dispatcher for the police dept (not quite as stressful as ATC, but close). Monday I start school full time to get my A&P. I've already got credit for the airframe portion due to my military experiance, so I only have to take the powerplant half.
Anyway that's me in a nut shell

Scott

Darn, more Marines! LOL!

Seriously, welcome to here, and begin posting away! Good to have you aboard. You're Marine #4 we have here (correct, MTSU?). We've got two infantry and an H-46 crew chief.

Welcome! Now we have 1 more for the registered member team and 1 less on the lurkers. I don't feel so watched anymore

Welcome aboard, and don't let any of these old timers scare you away - they're more bark than bite!!!

By the way, when were you at HMX-1?? I've known alot of people up there.....wonder if we know any of the same.

What's your MOS? Did you head straight up there from C School? Fill me in!!!

Edited: Duh!! Airframes mechanic....

Yup, I was a proud member of the only squadron that uses more windex than hydraluic fluid. I was part of the green side airframe shop and the NDI lab. I got to C school having requested an overseas asignment and found out that I had orders to HMX-1. The two guys with me who desprately wanted to stay on the East Coast got sent to Okinawa (sp?).

Who's the Phrog crew chief?

Look at the picture, that aircraft should be grey and covered in dirt, grease, and leaking Hydraulic fluid.

Did you go to HMT-302? If so, when did you go?

Nope I went sraight there from C school. I was part of the MALS section of HMX, so I didn't go to any of the training squadrons

Ahhh, ok...which C school did you go to? When were you there? I have alot of buds in the engine shop up there!!

MSTU
I went to C school at NAS Lemore CA. If I ever see that place again it'll be far too soon.

Welcome to JC mate!

Do you know any guys from COMMS based at Okinawa?
Im in the RAAF and ive worked with a heap of your marines on an Exercise in Northern Australia Sept. last yr.

Not a bad lot. You got a few playing silly buggers, but you get them everywhere.
I was suprised to see your marine cops out in the streets and clubs when your marines went out after the exercise finished.

Whats with that?

Aussie

Howdy and welcome!

So you used to work on the presidents helicopter?? was that fairly recent or quite a few years ago?

I know a guy (girlfriends husband's brother) who actually flies the presidents helicopter right now... granted, he's only been into town (phx) once when the president was here and he was allowed to let his brother's kids take a tour (even have a photo of them with the headphones on).. wish I could have gone but you know - security...it looked pretty darn kewl!!

but anyways, enuff of my rambling...and Welcome!!

Welcome to Jet Careers!

Aussie

4,000 Sailors and Marines get relased from their floating prison where they have been for several months. On board there is 1 female for every 20 males. There is NO beer untill you have spent 30 continious days at sea, then all you get two lousy cans of the cheap stuff. Everybody has about two months pay that they haven't been able to spend.

I think the Sydney Police Dept apreciates all the help they can get.
