I received my TOL a coupl emonths ago...filled out all the paperwork for security clearance, and such, took the drug test and all that..I was undecided still if this was the career I wanted, (i was waiting on something else), but i didnt want to completely shoot down the air traffic thing either...so talking to my HR person, they said to just do the physical, and psych when I get a chance...well I have put off scheduling these 2 test for a couple months to delay getting my FOL. If I do remain going on the ATC path, will I just be able to schedule these 2 things...do them, and be done with it? or will I have to start over somewhere?

I'd get the tests over with, you can always turn down your FOL date for a later date. But the way things have been going it takes people forever to make it to Oklahoma for training.

I hate to sound like a jerk here but I would start thinking right now if this is really a job you could see yourself doing in the future. As I see it now you are blocking thousands of other people who know this is their dream job and would gladly accept the TOL to wherever you were selected to. Anyway, I would still do the tests as soon as possible because even if everything goes smoothly I still think it will be months before you even get a FOL. As I understand it now HR is very backed up so you might not even be going to OKC until fiscal year '11 or even later. Some of the guys in the process now might have more information on the wait times.

Anyway, get your clearances done ASAP. If any hitches come up on them, it can take months to resolve. Psych can be especially lengthy. Best to let that happen now, when training's on hold anyway, rather than later when you might've been in a class otherwise.

I've gotta press all these buttons to change it... too much work. I left my heart there anyway... can't find decent Mexican, BBQ or country for the life of me. Don't miss the big stupid pickups, though.
