How To Start A B-737

Maybe it's because I am just starting my first cup of coffee, but are there knuckleheads somewhere who are able to sneak onto 737's and are attempting to fire them up?

I think he is referring to the dudes who buy one of the payware 737 models for FSX and then claim to be able to fly one in real life because of how 'realistic' it is.

Mags - On
Yell - Contact
Run out to the engine - spin big fan up front

This isn't rocket surgery

That looked like 10 seconds of start and 2:00 of tests... so... I mean, technically....

My brother showed me this video and asked me it is like what I do. I told him this video is a guy pressing buttons just to press buttons, I how ever touch close to 30 switches to start all 3 engines.

Way back in the day, working line services, I loved getting to fuel the FedEx 727's because I always got to go up to the flight deck and swing the fuel gauges in the FE's seat... seeing all those switches and gauges was awesome. Such a cool airplane.

One day I tested all the gauges and started loading and after a while started scratching my head as things weren't adding up from the truck to the gauges, ended up over fueling it. Almost got chewed out but thankfully the FedEx maintenance guy happened to be in the cockpit that day and had seen me test the gauges so he stuck up for me.

If you fly an old Boeing hybrid, you do "press all those buttons" prior to start. :) Looks similar enough to the 767 preflight flow.

These videos irritate me, some 300 hour wizz kid pays for his type rating and job - then videos the novelty of being an "airline pilot". You're at Ryanair you dummy, not something to be proud of and where is the captain in all of this? He's willing to risk his ticket during engine start while the FO is hanging out the window video taping the engine spinning.
Rant over!
