How to Pack

one of the worst overnights . .long day of flying, got a few bottles of the good stuff, got to room . . . and couldnt get the stupid things opened!! EVER!!!! I just sat there looking at these wonderful brown bottles of import beer laughing at me. Not good at all! (oh and if you change hotel rooms or locations, dont forget the beer you put in the little fridge!!!)
And yes, bring a spoon and fork, I've had to eat TV dinners before while on trips and noodles are really, really hard to eat with a makeshift paper spoon.
also, a small 4 ounce bottle of Frebreeze, and those little pen sized tide laundry stain removal things! Now those are great, because if not, as soon as you get in the plane for your 7 day trip your going to spill something on your stupid shirt!!!

But most of all, if you want to make a great impression with your crew, be sure to wear your worst christmas sweater ever!! If you can find something with kittens on it, then you might find yourself in the left seat.
I'm just saying!
 
For hotel room beer, the chain/ bar on the door works pretty well for opening.

I a new guy to 8 days out with uniforms and such. So far I've been bringing two uniforms and washing the shirt in the sink every other night (I bring some dry detergent.) Socks and boxers for the 8 days, workout clothes, 4 shirts, 4 undershirts, a pair of jeans, swim suit, running shoes, company manual, and resistance bands. I'm still in the honing stages, so we'll see where it ends up.

Wish I would have thrown that in. Here I am, sitting trying to eat Top Ramen for lunch before work. No fork/spoon around, so pen works somewhat like a chop stick. Tasty

Any girls out there want to share some insight on how they pack? You boys all had some great ideas, but we girls have tons of "accessories" if you will. I can't imagine packing for a 9-day trip in a 22in bag alone and keeping it under 30lbs. It's ridiculous how much stuff we need and I don't think I'm that high-maintenance (as some people would call it).

Although we can be quite savvy when it comes to cleaning mid-way through a trip, just wanted to see if any ladies out there had it mastered yet. :)
 
If you dont have to airline anywhere just pack a larger bag. I brought a 22" for my week long in Moab, but the other guy brought something like a 30" bag. The beauty of not being in an airliner :)

30" bag for a week? I do a single 22" bag for 3 weeks!
 
I just don't carry 47 different outfits. I carry a pair of jeans, pair of shorts, 3-4 button down shirts, and a week's worth of undershirts/underwear/socks. 2-3 uniform shirts since I don't fly everyday on trips. Flip-flops go in the side pocket. DONE. :)
 
Thats the big thing. Alot of trips, even though they last a week, we only fly out there, sit, then fly back. SO really we dont need much in the way of work clothing. Definitly makes the suitcase lighter.

I have been living in Brazil for 2 years (ok it`s warm here for most of the year), but I can put all my stuff in a 20" bag and a 28L backpack (I also have a small jepp bag with my pilot stuff in it). I don`t really get it how peoples need so much space or take some many "what if I needed?" items..

I have to pack worldwide, but it's really not difficult. The big thing is just not to try to stuff your bag full of everything. If you can wear your jacket, do so instead of having it take up half of your bag. If it's warm, hang the jacket over the bag's handle and drag it around that way. Easy junk like that can save a lot of headaches. :)

So then does a 36" bag for 11 months work out to be ok? At first, I thought that I had just enough to survive. 2 months after I started, I've came to the conclusion that I have too much stuff with me still, even after sending some back home.
