How short is too short?

Just wondering...is there an airline height requirement for guys? I'm a whopping 5'3". Just wanted to know if I meet some "resistance" when I go looking for a job someday.

I don't know, I've always seen VERY short airline pilots when walking in the airport. I don't really think so.

Let's see what others have to say. ;-)

Sit on top of some phone books and wear platform shoes, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Yes, you're way too short. Give up now, it's hopeless.

Leaves one more seat for the rest of us!

Just kidding, no height requirement for civil aviation. However, you are an inch shy of the USAF minimum height, so I wouldn't plan on that route.

I'm almost 16, 5'9. My friend is 5'7. When he got his drivers permit he said he was 5'10. If the DMV doesn't care, then why would the airlines!?

What about 26 and 6'7"? I guess I'll have to forget the Lear...

I hear you can tell a Lear FO from a Captain by which way their head is tilted.

The DMV dosn't care about a whole lot of stuff that the FAA cares about, and the FAA dosn't care about a whole lot of stuff that the airlines care about.

The DMV dosn't make me get a physical exam every 6 months,
The DMV dosn't care how bad my driving record is as long as I don't drive with a suspended licence,
The DMV dosn't specify how often I have to drive to keep my licence current, as long as I visit their office and pay a fee every ten years or so,
The DMV dosn't care much about my criminal record,
The DMV dosn't make me wait 8 hours after having a sip of beer before I can drive,
The DMV dosn't make me stop driving when I'm 60, (but maybe they should)
The list goes on...

Why, is my hair glowing?

Actually both my parents are somewhat 'normal,' around 5'10" or so. My sister is about 6 foot, and she went ahead and married a guy taller than I am. So I guess I'm not the tallest anymore....

Don't worry about it. 5'3 is fine, I've seen tall and short pilots. We all come in different sizes! I'm just shy of 6'0 which is a good height.

Yeah, I get that a lot. In my job I get to travel a lot and be in a lot of different places and a lot of taller people say that. And believe it or not, I've ran into people a LOT taller than me before, like 6'10"+. And I think I have probems finding clothes....
