38 and just about to roll 2000 instructing..hopefully I'll be able to come back next year and say 39 for first airline gig. And I'm hardly depressed about being a late bloomer..I was doing stuff at 22 I might write a book about later. Oh..and no debt, no kids, no ex-wives. The trade off is no income and no life but I'll survive.

Now, one furlough, one liquidation, one contract gig, and four birthdays later, I'm further from the left seat in a 121 operation than ever. And I've never cared less about the whole fiasco than I do right now. Must be my old age.
Chill, folks. Even if it is a race, it's hardly even worth winning these days. cmill et al have the right idea.

First flight - 15
PPL - 17
CFI - 18
Regional - 23
135 Cargo - 29
121 Cargo - 30
Ended up taking the scenic route, although it was never a conscious choice. Some of my first students from the early '00s are probably at a major by now. Flew for a regional for 3 years and got disenchanted with it ( it didn't help it was one with a 10 year upgrade), and then didn't fly anything for a year. Had an opportunity to try cargo, and that's what I've been doing since.
