How old is too old?

This pilot is retired from another career, on a comfortable pension, so making minimum wage is fine with him(or her). .
I considered that to mean that they could handle the low first year wage....
I know, live the dream, I understand and encourage it. But don't say you'll do it for minimum wage. It's like these ads I see for airline pilots who will Ferry airplanes for next to nothing. You've already got your finances taken care of, so you'll ruin a job for someone else.
I understand what you're saying, and agree particularly with the ferry flying for free....... although, I did have to work for low wages (at OO) to build my career...

another perspective...
If you consider that this person isn't looking to move on quickly, the regional airline will end up paying them more than pilots who are looking to use it as a stepping stone, when they are turning over pilots every five to seven years...

I had occasion to speak to a director from a regional recently. I asked him point blank if they would hire a 55 year old, (no, I'm not 55 yet). His response was exactly that. "Why not? We'd only have him/her for 5 to 7 years normally anyway."
