How low will the regionals go on time requirements?

It seems like every day another regional is lowering its' minimums. I was wondering if anybody here has the inside scoop on what we can expect from the regionals in the near future? Do you think that regionals like American Eagle and Express Jet will lower their multi requirement to 50 hours? Also, do you think that any regional will ever go lower than the 50 hours of multi?

I've heard ExpressJet is FIRM on their multi requirement. I know guys who have 2000 hours and 20 multi who they wont evel call. No joke.

I hope to his all mightiness that the regionals never lower their mins beyond 50 multi. 50 is a JOKE!!!!

I hope you are asking in the appropriate fashion and not looking for some shortcut.

I am sure you arent but just want to make sure..

Honestly, I don't think they can lower much below 50. I wouldn't honestly trust someone with 50 ME to fly around in a Seminole if I owned it, much less an RJ. I got my CMEL as the initial, and I had around 30 ME when that was done.

Competitive requirements or minimum requirements?

In this environment, I certainly would not get fixated on the minimum requirements. But for the sake of this thread, I'll say respectable 121 environments (ASA, XJT, SKW, PCL, Colgan) will maintain a >500/50 minimum requirement - with ASA at the lowest of that spectrum, and that is without a silly RJ/Jet transition course.

Competitive requirements will still be in the 750-1200TT/75-200ME ranges.

I've heard Great Lakes will go down to 25 for the Multi req.

Question is, when will Skywest drop to 800/100?

Or even 709/133 :) Maybe 711/133 after tomorrow if the weather is good in So Cal? :)

I see SKW being the last one to drop their TT requirements any lower than 1000. From what I have read here, and elsewhere, SKW is actually a pretty decent place to work - with a HUGE stack of wannabe SKW flyers sitting at HR. I'm sure they could hire into a pool right now if they wanted to, but they don't need too just yet. I'd expect them to start hiring into a pool by this fall though, only to reduce the stack of paperwork sitting in HR.

Mins are in fact just mins. But consider this - if they're not needing/hiring people with low time, why bother changing them?

I don't see it as needing low time people. . . it's needing people to fly. They can not recruit individuals with higher TT as they are making more lucrative money elsewhere (135, frac, etc). Pay must come up if they want people with higher time. End of story.

surreal, as a member of your fan club I agree. The airlines know they can get some new flight school grad to fly for $20K a year and they take it.

Maybe they wont have people bailing out left and right if they change the pay structure.

In the meantime, lets ____:bandit: _____.

The only regionals I dont see giving up their mins at this point in time are Republic, SKYW, and well... thats about it.

They just did.

(about two weeks ago)

Lower than what SKW's mins are? I could be wrong, but I thought they went from 1200 to 1000TT. ?? Do you see them budging off of the 1000TT mark?

They at least have a semi-right idea of offering a sign on bonus that is paid after IOE is successfully completed . . . $2500 bones is a good bit of change (even after taxes) towards ANY loan, school or flight training. Or heck, take it, throw it into a CD of your choice and allow it to make money over a year, two years, then throw it towards a loan.

One of my CFI's was going through the latest Air Midwest class. There were a couple of young guys with 200 Total time and 10 Multi!!!!! He said the average times in the class were about 400/50. There were only 2 people over 2000/200 hours (he was one of them; he was actually hired to be a captain off the street).

Uhhh, or use it to pay bills during your first year.

That too . . .

I suppose with having two wage earners in a household, I didn't really count that as an option. But obviously, I can see how that extra $2500 can go towards whatever the single guys/gals want it to go towards.
