How long did it take you guys to solo?

I don't buy in to the "I only flew once a week" thing. I fly less than that a lot of times. In fact, I hadn't flown in over 3 weeks before I did my solo. Instructor got back, did a couple touch and gos, got signed off and did my 3. :)

Well some of us just don't have time to fly, or learn quicker than others. Sometimes it'd be a week before i'd fly, or a few months, took me nearly 6 months and 23 hours to solo thanks to military life. My approaches and landings were my biggest problems at the time too, just couldnt get the hang of it.

I soloed in 14.1 hours. My instructor just hopped out of the aircraft at the end of the runway one unexpected day and it happened.

All my Navy IFS students have to solo by 15 hours or they're out. I usually solo them in the 12 hour range or so, but I've had some sharp kids solo in about the 9th hour or so. The key is, all of their landings aren't good, but their go-arounds are!

That's what I was saying...I rarely flew once a week, and sometimes went a lot longer than that.

one of my old instructors said it usedto be fairly standard to solo in the 4to 5 hour range. They did strictly pattern work and were soloed for the pattern only.....fun huh?

20.6 hours; This was back in the day when I didn't have a car, the public transit sucked (still does), and every available appointment with the AME never matched the availability of a car. But I got it done and eventually went on to take my PP pretty much with the required mins and then take my IR with ~.1hours over the required mins.

I am at around 5 hours right now, and my instructor wanted me to solo yesterday. Definetly caught me off guard, and made my nerves go crazy! It got a little too windy later though, so hopefully on thursday!

24 hrs flying once a week. My instructor said theyt were more like arrivals than landings. Then one day it all clicked.

30, but it took me about a year and a half to accumulate those hours because of financial reasons among other things.....

I still don't understand why people feel the need to make a race out of it.....

Who's racing out of it?

I must of missed that.
