How long did it take you guys to solo?

This is kind of a spin off to how long to took some of you to get your PPL, but just for the sake of curiosity, how long did it take you guys to solo for your PPL?

Too long. I had the knowledge, could do all the maneuvers, but couldn't land worth a damn!

After the solo I had the checkride 5 days later and the IR and CPL came pretty quick.

Speaking of landing, I had the worst since my student pilot days the other night. Oh man, it was fugly!

16 hrs...My instructor said I was ready to solo at 7 hrs, but I was too busy to get my medical...

17. I thought I was a retarded freak. I just couldn't get the proper xwind technique in less time though.(There is a xwind almost every time I fly, and I soloed in an 11-12kt xwind.)

I don't buy in to the "I only flew once a week" thing. I fly less than that a lot of times. In fact, I hadn't flown in over 3 weeks before I did my solo. Instructor got back, did a couple touch and gos, got signed off and did my 3. :)

took me almost 30 hours. I really SUCKED at landings. Everything was fine up until the flare and I would always land it too flat. Finally came to grips with the fact that I'm short  and had a hard time seeing over the cowling. Bought a $5 cushion from Target and the next time I went up my landings saw a MAJOR improvement.

three hours...thats how they do it these days:nana2: . Just kidding but 20 or so but I have a students whos at 50 hours and still has not soloed-maybe this week tho.

I think it was 16 hours. But I felt so much prouder the day my first student solo. Such a great feeling. He was 16 too!
