How long before you got your first job in dispatch?

Right out of school. How much time did it take before your first offer? I'm still looking since getting my ticket in March this year....

I got my license this month on the 6th and got my first offer a few days ago. I just applied everywhere and was optimistic. I got my first offer from a small 135 cargo place that wanted flight followers who had dispatcher licenses or experience. Im still deciding if I am gonna take the job or wait for other offers.
 
March and started the first gig in January. Fast forward a couple years and now my motto is bags fly free. YMMV.
 
For those who got offers so fast, did your schools help you with placement or just from applying online?
 
Got certificate in June. Interview 3 weeks after that. Job offer 2 weeks later.
All things being equal, much depends on how brisk the hiring is when you are looking.

Got the job (conditionally) a week before i got the certificate, it helped that my school used the same aircraft as the airline I went to. I just pestered the hr manager every day until they offered me an interview.
 
I was working for a 135 when I got my certificate mid October last year then was offered my current position at a regional a month later. Good timing with several regionals hiring at the time.
 
I got my cert in October, started at a regional with @crow in Jan. Fast forward a couple of years and I’m creating an airline people love. As it was so eloquently put earlier “YMMV”.
 
I had gotten my cert in August and started at my regional in September. (I had actually got my conditional offer a few days prior to my cert actually). Ditto to YMMV.
 
I vividly remember searching this exact topic when I was in your shoes OP, so I will throw my name into the hat. 2 month wait for me out of school; best of luck.
 
It took me about two months to find something. Finished class end of October, had an interview in December, and started work in late January, if I recall correctly (this has been some time ago.) It was my fourth interview but my first regional airline interview. Persistence is key!

It’s about incentiving the hiring manager. I usually like to send a copy of my resume, directly to the hiring managers home. Addressed to their dog. If that doesn’t get their attention you get a copy of the movie cape fear sent to their house (pro move- address it their youngest child). Your phone will be ringing off the hook in no time

I hear that the best way is to just show up to the SOC, start dispatching, and act like you own the joint. No applications or resumes necessary - find an open desk and start slinging flights. Then just casually mention to HR that you don't seem to be on payroll - they'll get you set up and you're in!

This may or may not be based on the plot of Wedding Crashers.
