How does your company handle change of layover/reassignments

Just curious how the other companies handle reassignments and other schedule changes. Do you get extra compensation for them? If so what? Do you get days off back if worked into a scheduled day off or do you pay in lieu of?

I had a reassignment the other day. I was supposed to fly a simple turn and upon landing was informed that the company needed the jet in another city. We didn't have enough duty time (13hrs is max allowable duty day) to fly the extra leg and get the jet back to the hub we left from. So we flew to the new city and layed over and commercialed back to domicile later that evening. The change of layover generated a two hour payment and since we were going into days off, the revised schedule generated late arrival pay of the number of hours you are late getting back to domicile vs. your originally scheduled arrival minus a four hour buffer the company has. So, we were 13 hours late getting back to domicile and minus the 4 hours, generated a 9 hour premium payment at 150% of pay. So the total was 2hr change of layover payment at regular pay and 9hrs at 150% pay.

In my current cargo ops depending if we go over into a day off then we get 2.5 hours of OT or hours flown on the dayoff which ever is greater. We also can take to the option of getting another day off in lieu of pay.

At my previous carrier it was all dictated by our contract and we were pay protected. I don't recall the exact specifics but if we flew over we got the extra at 150%. If it was just longer duty day, it was tough luck. If took you into a day off you got the dayoff back later in the month. If it cost you to get stuck in base, again tough luck hotel is on you.

For us, schedule changes are just part of the job, so if it's a midweek change, nothing happens. We just recently went back to the "old" way of handling overtime. That is, if forced into our day off (or getting into our gateway after 2am (4am?)) we get paid our daily rate (base salary/180 = daily rate) at 150%. What's more, we can't be required to operate a company aircraft on our day off; all they can do is send us home. Not a bad deal, overall.
