How does the TSA plan to stop this?

Re: How does the TSA plant to stop this?

The FBI will be banging on your door soon. . . hauling you off to Gitmo for bringing this to the forefront. You are to be silenced!

:sarcasm:

Actually. . . yes, this stuff is nuts.

Just saw this link posted on Eaglelounge.com and I thought I'd bring it to attention here.

The TSA is too busy strip searching grandmas and babies, and making sure your one quart baggie is actually a ZIP LOCK in your carryon.

TSA priorities are real f'ed up.

That's some scary s*%t! Does anyone know who made the video? That has to be detectable in the bomb sniffing machines that the TSA is implimenting.

The TSA is not allowed to profile passengers, so, they need to treat all passengers the same..... If the TSA were to start profiling passengers, the ACLU will have a lawsuit ready to go in about 30 seconds...

As to the threat, looks like matches & lighters may be the next thing that is banned from flights, until passengers start complaining again....

Complain about what? What need is there to have matches or a lighter on board an aircraft?

And to all those smokers who are going to bitch and moan, get over it. Airports need to close down all smoking areas inside the Airports. I can't stand walking past one of those areas in Atlanta. Just disgusting. . .and I occasionally smoke.

Matches & lighters were banned from flights, people moaned that they were unable to smoke prior to flights.

Also, knitting needles were banned from flights, until they were allowed back on, seriously, people complain about the silliest things.

Er...

Lighters - All lighters are prohibited as carry-on items. Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage. Lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked baggage, unless they adhere to DOT exemptions, which allow up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited, please refrain from bringing it to the airport.

Looks like lighters still ARE prohibitted. Now, you can carry up to 4 books of matches, but that's it. If you need more....well, you should probably stop smoking. I was pretty darn sure after working at the ticket counter that lighters were still a no-no.

Thanks for that, I remembers they made a rule change, but, as you posted, only the ban on matches was lifted....

Matches are allowed, but have no metal in them anyway, therefore undetectable by the mag. Lighters are a no-no, but usually don't set off the mag on their own.

wait a minute... i thought matches and lighters were already banned????

edit: whoops...sorry.. should read entire thread first... duh! ;)

They're not allowed to profile by the book. Unfortunately pengy, it exists!
