How do you study the FAR/AIM?

New question: Does an endorsement (high performance, complex, tailwheel, etc.) qualify you to give that endorsement to your student? Any hourly requirements involved on the part of the instructor? I've been searching 61.195 Flight Instructor limitations and qualifications, but it's not in there. Any place else you could direct me to look would be appreciated.

The studying is coming along well. I'm getting a better understanding of this book and not worrying so much about the numbers. Tabbing my pages really help me break it down and find the important ones.

1). Yes. You will be CFI airplane. So you can give instruction towards any endorsement that you can act PIC during.
2.) No hourly requirement. Insurance will probably dictate though.

My own personal rough guidelines were around 10 hours for a complex. I know people moan that you *can* do it in less time, but from what I've personally seen, you'd be amazed at how many gear up accidents happen shortly after the endorsement. Dunno, maybe you wouldn't be amazed at all by that.
For HP, the endorsement came after about an hour if they were already complex endorsed. But that is just me, you do what you want.

Thanks for the answer on that Douglas. Nothing more frustrating than looking for a reg that isn't there.

New question, if I may. This one regarding Airworthiness Requirements:

One of the Tasks in the PTS is "Requirements and procedures for obtaining a special flight permit." Is there an Advisory Circular on this? Not finding anything about them in Part 91.

Take a look at these references and see it this helps any. If not, and you still don't get an answer, send me a PM and I'll dig deeper.

Quick update on my training:

Got the spin endorsement from my instructor today. The first one was an instructor demo. It was not fun and was about the most uncomfortable I've felt in an airplane ever. I didn't trust the airplane, a 172. The next couple we just spun to incipient and pulled out. Towards the end I was feeling much more trusting of the airplane and I did some nice fully developed spins. I can really appreciate why they make you do this to get the CFI.

Checkride is two weeks out and on the schedule. Feeling more and more confident every day. Thanks for the advice everyone!
