How do you pronounce \"Embraer\"

I can't tell whether or not it should be spoken as "EmbRAYer" or "EmbRAWer." Anyone know which one is correct?

Re: How do you pronounce \"Embraer\"

I seem to remember hearing it from a safety briefing a while back.

"emb-rye-AIR"

I think.

I always thought it was Em-Bray-Er.

Toe-May-Toe, Toe-Mah-Toe, etc etc.

Good question Paul_Gray.

I just refer to it as "EMB" because I've heard so many different pronunciations.

Oh OK, haha. Guess I'm an idiot for sitting here trying to pronounce it then, lol. Brain is mush from 5 flights today (not that I'm complaining).

Re: How do you pronounce \"Embraer\"

Correct pronunciation should be "Em-brair." (more or less)

It is actually an acronym in Portuguese for EMpresa BRasileira de AERonautica, SA (translated: Brazilian Aeropsace Business, Inc.). Portuguese is more or less written phonetically (not considering open and closed vowels and nasal vowels, with some other exceptions), but at least it applies in the case here.

Certainly not Taco Rocket. What do you think Brazil is? Mexico??

Re: How do you pronounce \"Embraer\"

I call 'em the way I see 'em. If I don't see 'em, I make 'em up!

Seriously, I have heard it called Taco Rocket many times. As well as Jungle Jet, Barbie Jet (long and skinny with two big ones on top), Junk Jet, Amazon Cruiser, etc.

Tin Man...

Gotta love the APU exhaust port... Taken right off the Tin Man's head.

Every time I see the darn thing I can't help but start humming "If I Only Had A Brain"...
