How do you keep yourself current?

Well, I don't know about tgrayson's experiment...never heard what came of it. However, I did tune up the VOT at KDAL and set up an RMI bearing pointer in the G1000, and it stuck pointed at 180.

Same result. Clearly not just a dumb pointer.

I fly quite a bit I don't worry about that. It's the knowledge part that seems to escape me sometimes.
Do you have the time to participate in other online forums? This one is good but there are forums that are more student-focused such as www.studentpilot.com or have more questions that tend to come up in instructional situations. Answering them, even if you have to look it up, is an excellent way of keeping up your knowledge level. And some of the more sophisticated questions will have you increasing your knowledge level.

There is a FAA guy over at the FSDO who did my CFI and CFII checkride and this guy is amazing. 40 something years of flying and his knowledge is amazing, you should go talk to him, his name is Tim. I can't remember his last name, but he is the only Tim there.
