visibility in tampa was 1 1/4 miles... it was terrible until you got to 4000 feet.

It looks bad from the ground but once you get up in it the viz isnt that bad.

Coming back from a dual x-country, VRB was IFR due to the smoke, and we couldn't get special VFR due to all the incoming IFR traffic. ATC gave us clearance at the last possible minute. I actually have video of it. I'll try to post it.
