Does any one have any personal experience with Hortman Aviation here in Philly? I have recently just moved to Philadelphia and I am trying to find an FBO to start training at in the next couple months. Any other FBO Suggestions?

I am also very close to Delaware and would take the extra drive to save on tax. Does anyone knows of any FBO's in Wilmington/New Castle area? Thank you

Where are you in your training? I would love to get a safety pilot and we can build time and save some bucks building time once you get PVT and/or IFR.. As far as FBOs go, try out ILG, N57, OQN.. I did my PVT mostly at KLOM, but it is much more expensive than the others... Shoot me a PM.. I plan on starting back up at OQN this summer..

Friend of mine was a cfi at Hortman, doesn't speak very highly of them.

Don't know your location, but there are a ton of great places in the area. Wings Field is a great little airport, actually the birth places of AOPA and they have a great fleet, but they are expensive as Dan pointed out. KTTN is right across teh river from PNE, Royal Karina on field is a great place to learn and they have joined up with Mercer County College so they can offer 61 or 141. There is Flying W, which I've never been to but from everyone I've talked to it sounds like a great little airport to fly out of. If you're willing to go north, there is Alexandria, which has great rates on 152's and 172's, great instructors and the airport is awesome. Runway 31 might be one of the most challenging paved runways in the area, always a crosswind, 1800x25 with trees right off the end so you need to do a short field, on center line.
