In the UK you will have 18-20 year olds flying 737s, 320s and the like

Actually it was in the news a while back that a 25 year old just upgraded to A 320 captain, that is preety young to be in control of a big plane like that. But hey everything has its time as they say, go to college ,get your ratings and whenever it is the right time you'll get into airline flying. One step at a time.

I would not trade my 5 years of college for anything. Best time of my life. Without it, I couldn't come here and say that I know Doug.

And without Bog, I'd still be sitting on the side of the road after I spun out in the snow off of Willow Creek Road! :)

"You dumbass, are you wearing shorts? You ARE wearing shorts!"

College was great and I wouldn't change it for the world. Which is why I'm shocked so many 18 year olds are hellbent on online degrees or skipping it entirely. They were undoubtedly some of the best years of my life.

I got to live with cheerleaders and hit the slopes about 50 times in one season.

Hit the slopes, huh? Is that what they're calling it these days. ;)

Shorts? Heck yeah. I can't do that as much these days. Aging takes its toll.

As a former ab initio instructor, taking the average 18 year old American and a young ab initio student at a foreign airline is apples and oranges.

By the time we got a student at our flight school that began training, he had already went thru six to eight months of extensive testing, met education requirements, strict physicals and was probably one of ten people that were interviewing/testing for that training slot.

Meanwhile, anyone with credit enough for a key loan or enough parental backing in this country can show up and start flight training.

lol i got my commerical multi on my 18th birthday, i hope im at the airlines in the next two years...i actually stared flying when i was 13 only to find out that i wouldnt be able to solo unitl 16, and get my ppl at 18, so i flew a few times a year, and by the time it could get all my ratings i flew threw them...
