Horizon Air Hiring

They do small classes.... my class had 7 people. The class after mine was 5, and the most recent one was 6.

One person from each of the last two classes washed out of training.

Excellent job Ben, thanks! Ben and Chris have the most up to date info since they were newer hires.

From what I understand, they could be hiring up to 10. I start my CQ training on Monday, so I'll ask the CP if they have a firm number or not of how many.

Keep the questions coming guys, it opens up soon!

Glad to help.

Is there any way to edit my last post, where I screwed up the quotations? I looked for an edit button, but didn't see one.

I fixed it.

There is a time limit on the edit function to prevent people from going back and "changing history". Causes tears in the space/time continuum when that happens. Next time proof read sooner. :)

I don't change history, I create it.

Here's the scoop I got today in CQ from the Chief.

55 people have applied, only about 30-35 are qualified. Class is to be for 4-6 people and in early January, probably 2nd-3rd week.

State of Alaska flying is going to happen in Summer 2013, that includes an Anchorage base.

We are on track for RNP of .1 for the Q400, so flying in the SE is going to be a fun challenge! I'm looking forward to it...JNU is hopefully going to be an overnight for us.

You guys realize that when this does become a reality you're going to be inundated by Alaska 135 pilots looking to move up in the world without having to leave Alaska, right?

I think Horizon would be very happy with that...as long as they meet the "ATP Requirement", that seems to be the sticking point for most.

As long as they're safe pilots that can adapt to the "airline" way of doing things, I say bring'em on!

I would be overjoyed if that happened. For the following reasons:

1) They would be junior to me.
2) They'd want to stay in Alaska, and I'm going to be trying to avoid Alaska like the plague.
3) The fact that they'd be showing up, and junior to me, would help me out in the aforementioned 'Alaska avoidance' mission.

:D
