Hiring

See the dispatch function of Global Flight Source used to be under ABX Air Inc. GFS broke off to work on growing as an independent dispatch contracting service for other supplemental carriers. They broke off about close to 3 years ago. I have been working for them since April 2012 and have actually enjoyed the experience. It is supplemental cargo and from what I can tell from other people I know at other cargo carriers (other than UPS and FEDEX) that we are almost at the top in performance and pay.

If you would like to know a bit more about it like pay scales and stuff like that PM. I would be glad to answer any questions that you have.

Side note: Deltabobo said to stay away but in this case he is wrong. Not sure what his agenda is but it is a good company and I like working here. It definitely beats working at the regional level and the work load is pretty easy. Any take care all.

Glad you are happy there but I imagine there is not any non-rev or jumpseat benefit for the job. Of course, enough pay would make up for that. It sounds like the owner might have hoped that the contract dispatch regulation change got passed so that he could also offer his services to regular 121 carriers but I am sure there is enough supplemental business or he wouldn't have formed the company in that manner then they broke off.

I'm guessing they broke off the dispatch department in anticipation of Capital Cargo merging their certificate with ATI. GFS could then dispatch ABX Air and ATI/Capital Cargo.

Actually they thought they could generate business from operations needing dispatchers. We would dispatch for them instead of them hiring dispatchers for their company. The idea was to be a contract dispatchers kind of like contract mx workers.

Also there isn't any non rev or jumpseating benefits. But that doesn't matter to me because I don't like traveling anywhere anyway. Plus the non-rev has become a joke in most places anyway.

Me, having an agenda against Graber? That would never happen! ;) I just love getting a call from my boss one day telling me don't bother coming in, because the airline (NA) (which would have celebrated its 25th anniversary) has eliminated 90% of its workforce. Oh, never mind the fact that he had shut down an carrier (WO) a week before (a day prior to its 67th anniversary). And...he did it to another carrier (TZ) in 2008. 3 airline in 5-7 years? This guy is almost as productive as Frank Lorenzo! This is the best part! JG said since day 1 of his tenure at GLAH that he was trying to cut costs, overhead, liabilities, etc., but the unions (IBT, ALPA) were standing in his way! Oh, during the bankruptcy proceedings (2nd round), it was discovered that JG STOLE $55mil from GLAH. Outstanding fellow! ehh?

I have an agenda against this a@hole, because he caused me & 2500 other employees to lose their livelihoods because he wanted some extra money in his pocket. Well, now we see whats wrong with corporate America today.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. Had the regs changes gone through they could have been dispatching for regular 121 carriers also. I agree the non-rev benefit has been severely tarnished, but if you do some careful planning (and are able to jumpseat as a backup) you can usually get where you want to go. If you have a family though - yeah, you're better off buying tickets.
