Actually, google's version of that isn't entirely accurate (sounds like I'm calling you an idiot but I'm not). Actual translation is "Chinese is a bitch, you don't want to learn it"

Some historically well known names are "grandfathered". For example, Hong Kong should actually be "XiangGang", If you follow pinyin strictly. Tsingtao was probably kept (at least for the beer) for marketing reasons.
