Hired & Moving to Phoenix!

dude there are some apartments that are just east of the 101 and north of the 202 (dont know the name) that I look pretty new, would be in a safe area (for overall phx) and shouldnt be to pricey. And that should put you 5 minutes from work. good luck!

Isn't that area on the Indian Reservation?

You can buy a brand new house in Phx for under 300K. The market is dying there so builders are lowering prices.

Last summer while in Europe I met a girl from a suburb near PHX. I told her ive always wanted to live there and she told me to stay away, that Phoenix is a ghetto.

No. Im talking a stones throw north of the 202 and east of the 101.

Also there are some new condos just north of A mountain and south of Ghetto town lake. If you have million to burn.

Only been there once, but I got there by Greyhound from Tuscon...both those places are crazy, but Tuscon was a little too...hmmmm, political for me. I had people on the streets ttelling me I was living in a police state and all this kinda crap, course I was younf and dumb and said, "Hey, you think that guy I just bought pot off of on the street was a cop?" :)

Pheonix was much better the short time I was there...never seen so many strip clubs and head shops in my life though!lol

i know, i was only joking

Phoenix has more strip clubs than any other city in the USA except Houston! Houses have gotten a little cheaper in the valley, but not much. Tempe is the college town with the typical college town problems, like police who are tired of putting up with drunks. Go to Mesa or Tempe, and the cops won't take back talk! However, go to North Scottsdale or Paradise Valley, and the cops there get told off and threatened with law suits when the pull over a Beamer or Mercedes!

I'm heading out the middle of next week to look for a place. I'm thinking I want to try and stay fairly close to the office because I really don't want that long of a commute everyday. How is the traffic usually at rush hour on the freeways? I-95 through Philly is usually horrible and I have to drive it for almost a half hour everyday going to the airport from my house, so I'm used to a steady 10 mph crawl.

They get pretty bad. I-10 through the city gets the worse, It gets jamed even when its not rush hour. The 101 is hit or miss. The best thing you can do is use the city steets.

The 60 on the east side is usually do-able east and west bound if you hit the road at the right times...miss that window and its usually stop n go most of the way...

Well, just got back to Philly after running around the PHX area yesterday and this morning (while still leaving a little bit of time to get some sun at the Squaw Peak Resort). I found a place in North Tempe, about 2 miles from the office. It's a good place to start out while I get to know the area a bit. I will be out there permanently starting in two weeks, so I hope to meet all you PHX peeps soon!
