Unfortunately, not as a pilot ;) I just completed the drug test yesterday, and as long as I make it to EWR sometime next week for fingerprinting, I'll be a new Customer Service Representative for United Airlines in Grand Rapids! Pretty excited for the opportunity as I have two years of college left, and this will take me all the way to graduation if all goes well. If anyone flies into GRR painted in United, let me know and I'll say hello!

Good to hear man! Try not to let some of the airline BS get to ya and meet as many United people as possible and you'll do great!

Congrats! They have a great team in GRR. I hope you'll enjoy it!

That's awesome! How hard was it to get into GRR? I'm from Jenison and always wanted to make it back home in some fashion.

Into GRR, not hard at all; Service Air and American Eagle are constantly hiring. Into United mainline, a little bit more difficult. Ten people, including myself, were interviewed for four positions with mainline. Out of these folks, six had prior experience with United Express; either through ExpressJet when we had the contract after the merger, or were with American Eagle after they took over the ExpressJet contract. The remaining interviewees were family members, or had previous GRR airline experience.

Is the pay livable for the Grand Rapids area? My only comparison is what I was making on the ramp for US Airways in Phoenix in back in 2011.
