I'd like to thank everyone who offers up advice on these forums and especially those who offered me advice specifically. During the interview I thought a few times that had I not immersed myself in the pilot culture here my answers would have come across as disconnected or even naive.

If anyone has an interview with Mesaba coming up don't hesitate to PM me while it's still fresh in my mind.

My times were 1200TT 21ME CFII MEI

I got a very good vibe from everyone at Mesaba, they all seem almost as excited about the future as I am right now. My class date should be early to mid August... I can't wait...this is going to be an awesome summer.

21 me? Wow thats low. Good for you though.

Do you know if you are getting the jet or the prop yet?

Thanks! I dont think my airlineapps.com application ever made it past Colgans' 50ME time filter. PCL wrote me an email saying "when will you have more than 21 hours of ME time" and when I wrote them back and said "never, I have 21 hours of ME time, take it or leave it" they said "no thanks"

Mesaba was the only airline of those three, which were the only three I applied to, that called me on the phone. They had no problem with me only having 21ME and assured me that my resume was quite impressive and single-handedly instructing for 2 years while in college more than made up for it.

Even if I didn't end up at Colgan, I still greatly benefited from and appreciate all your help Seggy!

I don't know yet, I told them I'll take the first available class date even though I'd REALLY prefer the SAAB. With an estimated upgrade time of 2 years or less it's really intimidating to think about upgrading and learning a whole new airplane all at once with so little experience. (all upgrades go through the Saab)
 
Congrats! I saw the first Mesaba -900 in FAR a couple days ago and the paint job looks very nice.

Yup, saw it up close on Saturday... it was very, um, shiny.

Congrats, welcome. (from a guy that started just over a week ago)

Another bit of advice: if you're really flexible on the start date, let ST know... recently they've been calling people (who've said they're flexible) with really short notice when somebody backs out of class at the last second... I'm talking anywhere from a week to a day or so before class starts. The worst that'll happen is you can't make it to that particular class, and you're seniority number can never be too low.

I told him I was VERY flexible. I said I'd be sitting next to the phone all summer and that if someone no-shows on a monday I'd be there on a tuesday...he got the idea!

You said that they were impressed by your resume and the fact that you instructed for a couple years in college, do you think that the fact that you had 1200TT made them not mind the 21ME as much? Do you think you would have gotten on with 21ME with less than a thousand total time?

I believe having the 1200TT greatly helped overcome my low multi. I should have included that in the same sentence as 'instructing through college' because what it boils down to is that they looked at my experience 'on the whole' (no Austin Powers jokes please:))

I know this because this is basically what they told me, on the phone and in person.

Phone conversation:
Me: "Thats great! now you do know I dont meet your published multi mins right?"

Them: "well yeah I'm looking over the resume you sent to us right now and you have nothing to worry about"


Now... how much extra total time over mins made up for how little ME time below mins? ... I have no idea.
 
Congrats! Is training here in Minneapolis? If so, you picked a good month to start. Actually anytime in the summer is great. Enjoy your time here in the 'Sota..... :nana2:
