Hired at Chautauqua

Kristie

Sorry, won't do a good job, I'll do a GREAT job. I'm quite privileged to be given this opportunity and won't let anyone down. :)

Correction, it's not Chautauqua. It's Republic. Republic Holdings owns Shuttle America, Republic Airways and Chautauqua.

Well done! I'll see you in the "regional skies" - (I start G.S. at ExpressJet on the 24th!) I have lots of buddies at Chataqua and they are really happy there. Seems like a great company.

Me too!

Hey Folks,

Its been a while since I posted. Congrats to all of you that got this job, or any other one for that matter. I will be starting at Shuttle the end of this month. If you think getting the initial job is awesome(and it is), try getting one while on your first furlough, makes it ten times sweeter. Any of my furloughed Mesaba brothers and sisters around, hope you are all doing well.
Congrats again folks,
J

Congrats on the new job....

Just and FYI about the REPUBLIC HOLDINGS FAMILY you need to cya at all times.

All times? I would be happy to hear about some of them from your own experience... I am sure they are out there. like any aviation job. Like any job in particular. I wanna go to class informed.

You will need to watch your duty and flight time carefully. Scheduling doesn't watch them that closely. They will change leg times and edit previous flight times in order to make the next flight they are desperate to cover fit your schedule.

They will also grab the most covenient person to cover a flight and not the most junior or reserve person. The have no idea how to use a reserve person.

Lastly, watch your pay checks closely. During my last few months there, numerous errors were made shorting me in pay. It took phone calls to the D.O. in order to get paid the correct amounts on a few occassions.
Keep very close track of your pay and be prepared to cite chapter of verse of the contract when speaking with payroll. The problem is they cannot keep qualified people in that department.

Sorry to hear you have that bad of experience in aviation. The job I had prior to and after Republic Airways Holdings were/are great. You should never have to fight with payroll on a monthly basis, much less involve the D.O. in order to get paid. Also you shouldn't ever have scheduling change flight times to try and force you to do a flight that was illegal prior to the times being changed.

Those are two big reasons I left.

I am being sarcastic :):) the three aviation jobs I have had (CFI, 135 freight, wildland air attack) I have been lucky to have GREAT bosses, great opportunities.. thanks for the input!
