Hired at BigSky!

Well, in the pool at least. Interviewed Tuesday, got the call today that I was in the pool. Classes should start the middle of August which will be great. It seems like an awesome company, everyone was happy, and expansion is well on its way. Chief Pilot doesn't like to carry over people in the pool so if you are hired you go to the next class. Now I just have to bite my nails and wait for when that will be.

School: UND (however I only did my private there so I don't know if it really counts... see below) All other training was at an FBO, and CFI/II/MEI at ATP.

Hours: 900/30 (110TT is in Rotorcraft)

Outside application, however it was an opening posted as "UND Graduates Only".

I should say that the posted minimums are 1500/500 or else 600/50 for UND or other university program guys. They are holding their last interviews for a little while tomorrow. Growth is expected to be big so they might start up again around October. Expecting to add Denver as a domicile in addition to Billings. They moved up delivery of their additional 1900's to Ocotber instead of February, so they'll have 10 total. According to some management they might get more 1900's as soon as Feb. All the metros will be gone in a month or two.

Interview was standard 30 question written, HR with the CP and an HR rep, and a sim ride. Sim was a great frasca 142 down at the college in town, ndb work, ils/localizer app, steep turns. Test was all AIM questions, no 121 or other regs. HR was typical.

You know the names of any of the others that were hired? I ended up not applying due to commitment things. Oh well, I hope you enjoy it.

Nope, just myself and one other guy there from purdue. Apparently a number of others from the week before didn't make it. Don't know who though.

are you gonna get the Metro or 1900?

1900D.

All the metros will be gone by October, and all 10 1900s will be in the fleet by then.

As a MT native and pilot in training I say congrats! I have had some of the coolest experiences flying Big Sky and actually will be flying them again in about a month. It'll be awesome to see their new 1900D's. By the way, do you happen to know if they are going to be doing any more expansion in Washington? That's where I'm at now and I know they seem to come and go from different airports in Washington a lot. About the only stable one is Spokane.

They pulled out of Olympia and Seattle and shifted to PDX. They do fly to Moses Lake and Spokane. As far as other Washington destinations I'm not sure if they are really looking that way. I think they want to get some more flying out of Denver first. I'm from Portland/Seattle so I would love to see more flights that way!

Good luck with your training!
