I saw the way this thread was trending early on, but I'm glad I bit my tongue. (Or fingers, whatever.) I knew something unusual was going on. The LiveATC info confirmed it.

There's a lot of crap out there to sift through, but it's important to have an open mind. Social media is at the forefront of reporting these days. The traditional news media is still trying to adapt, and this is a prime example.

I was curious about that. As I was listening to the audio, there were times when it sounded like HE was making the demands... not merely relaying them.

At 16:25, you're likely hearing the pilot. ("descending FL100..."
At 17:00, it's the same voice, and he uses "we" when referring to the asylum demand.

For prospective on those that didn't believe this really happened. Flightradar24 can be set up to alert you if there is a 7500,7600, or 7700 squawk. There are a few false alarms every now and then and this is likely the first time the 7500 has been legit.
